... to get us closer to our next destination so we were slow to get moving taking care of some responsibilities before we left camp. We headed out north now in 55 up through Mississippi, our 23rd state; we had about a 6 hour drive towards Memphis. We stopped s few times along the way - once for lunch, once for a gas fill up, and once for a grocery stop. ... but I left mine. Then we just wandered around Memphis heading towards the riverfront. We stopped on the way to check out the famous Peabody hotel, it was beautiful! All marble everything, very grand and impressive. We also came across a high tea in there so of course we booked in for 3pm. It wasn't necessarily the cheap backpacker option but we figured it was something we'd always remember doing. And it was yum!! Definitely the best scone ...

... asked Elvis if all of his cars are Cadillacs. He replies no, and that he has four Cadillacs, a Lincoln and three sports cars. Oh, and a couple of motorcycles.

One of the buildings we looked at next is an office that his father set up in one section of an old smokehouse. It was Vernon’s Office. They had it set up as it was in the day, and on the video monitor they were playing an interview with Elvis that was filmed in this office. ...

... to try to see the “Pyramid” which is supposed to be huge Bass Pro outdoors store finished in 2014. With and out of service tramline, replaced by extremely irregular bus service we made our way there only to find that it is still unfinished and surrounded by ugliness. We did have a nicer walk back along the riverfront area.
Later in the afternoon we headed back to Beale Street where we really enjoyed the music ...

... don't know. Anyways, they were good, but it seemed so sad that they were on the street like that playing. That being said, their guitar case was full full of money so I guess that's why they do it. They were very talented, playing, singing and dancing.
