We headed out of Queenstown early ish. It was sad leaving everyone. Toni and Gwenno were staying on for a few days but I needed to get to Christchurch to catch my flight. We travelled through the Kawarau Gorge and up over the Lindis Pass into the MacKenzie Country. We stopped and looked at Mt Cook. Look at the photos, it is stunning! The maori name for the mountain is Aorangi or 'cloud piercer'. There are 22 mountains over 3050m in this area and the Tasman Glacier at 27kms in length, 3km in w...

... have something to share, feel free to share it in written words on this blog. As I am far from home one thing I have done is to leave behind the people that know me (except for my best friend sleeping beside me now). Know that you are missed and in many ways you travel with me, where ever I go.
As my Uncle Jeff reminds me, don't forget to look at the sky when you get a chance, and everyday is an opportunity .Until next time, Cheers
... sand!! We had lessons on the beach, we did art in the sand (check out the children's elephants), learnt about tides and the influence of the moon and learnt about the creatures who lived in the sand dunes. We love this outdoor classroom :-) We walked miles down the sand with the wind blowing in our faces and the sand stinging our legs. We decided that the sand blowing around the beach looked like spirits flying around! At the end of the ...
Bethell's Beach, New Zealand joparky... called Kelly Tarlton's which had loads of penguins and stuff also stingrays!!!! I watched a woman get in the stingray tank and feed them which was cool! They are stingrays which you actually do find off the coast of NZ's North Island. Then I went and visited Parnell Suburb which was very nice even in the extreme rain conditions! Met a girl from Cheltenham on the bus who was doing the same things as I was so spent the time chatting to her, which was nice. Now back at the hostel ...
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand sarahjford... was
impressive (see pics below). It's also a shopping day – Mike gets
new jeans (60% off and with the favorable exchange rate – it's a
good deal) and I get a black turtleneck and a hat because I need more
layers here!
We intended to go back to K'road – a very funky area of town
(like Adams Morgan in DC) for a taste of nightlife but after walking
around all day (and by the end of the day I was freezing!) we called
it an early night.
... work" - common New Zealand phrase). at this point I couldn't give a rats **** about being at a pub on my own. For looking around the tables I could be there with fat lesbians, middle aged men wearing chinos (no comment - I'm still young and don't wear chinos). So my own company seems preferable in this particular place.
Next mornin I hop back on the bus with Skins - our new bus driver. He's called Skins after having scratched the skin off his arm luging ...
... digs' after a long day of fun and games, most of us opting for the dinner of spag bowl. It was a really good oportunity for everyone to get to know one another and a load of us went into town in search of the local nightlife....we found a bar that fitted the bill and after a few beers everyone was well aqainted. The wierdest part of the day was we discovered one of the lads on our bus, Connor, was a friend of a friend and we had actually met him before back at home. Such a small world!

Have you logged on for the weather report or to find out about the wonders of Woofing, probably neither? You may just have stumbled onto this blog or been directed to it by a friend who told you about the witty banter that is spelled out in black and white giving hours of mind numbingly boring entertainment. ENOUGH! Sorry, I don't ...
Waitakere, Auckland, North Island, New Zealand onemanonedrumThursday 05/03/09 At Sea going slowly Temps Air 26°C Headset Harry I thought I'd give you another insight to some of the passengers on board; I've named this person headset Harry. As I've previously said in order to guarantee being able to use the gym's equipment when it opens in the morning you have to start queuing around 07:35 at the latest, and like myself headset Harry is one of the first people there. Without being to derogatory I ...
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand easygeeze... little inaccurate. We spent some time in Parnell doing some research for a future trip to New Zealand before heading back on foot into the city centre. However on the way back we decided to do a slight detour and return to the ship to freshen up as we had decided to treat ourselves this evening and dine in the 'Orbit Restaurant', the revolving restaurant at the top of the Sky Tower - a welcome change from the ships food. As our ...
