Today Gitta and Paula drove us over the big Afsluitdyke! I've been wanting to see this! We stopped at the monument and took in the views. There is a monument to the man Lely who was behind the dyke being built. The dyke is 7m above average sea level and about 30km long. Quite a lot of people driving and cycling across today. We stopped a bit further along to have our lunch on the dyke. Very nice. Next a drive down through Friesland to ...

Instead of kiting, we rented bikes. I got the chance to try an electric bike for the first time. It was awesome. Brian had to work hard to keep up with me ...

A nice sleep in today followed by a visit to the nearby Golden Angel Mill. Piet and Lisbeth took us in the car. Fantastic to see them change the sails to face the wind and see it working from the inside. A family BBQ at Piet and Ans tonight with Liesbeth and Maike and families. Followed by party fireworks care of ...

... Then a nice trip home in the boat followed by swimming in the little canal near Piet and Ans house. It was very hot today! Next: shopping on the bikes. People go everywhere on the bikes! Ben cooked a lovely dinner of chilli con carn to give Ans a night off cooking. Sitting outside in the beautiful garden after dinner was lovely with candles lit on the table and a cool breeze. Sundown is about ...
