I really only did two proper stops even though it was a 7 hour, 610km ride - one at a diner for a croissant and cup of tea, and another diner for a hamburger, and I got into Oulu just as storm clouds were rolling in. ... afield. On the side of one of the buildings and covered in cobwebs, I found some sockets that seemed to have wires leading to them. The trouble was, our leads weren’t long enough and whilst I was in the process of trying to bodge something together, a fisherman turned up in his van and pointed to the original power pole and sure enough, there was one unbutchered wire supplying one socket, hidden underneath and this worked. ... 8217;t go to the cinema but we had the next best thing, a DVD of 'Hunger Games’, a present from my sister in law Cherry and niece Isobel and saved for an occasion such as this. We’d thoroughly enjoyed the books, written for a younger readership than us but our friends the Ladds, even older than we are, recommended them and they were right! Anyway, a very enjoyable couple of hours were passed watching the first of the trilogy and I ...
