      ... time I had used a quarter tank, which was entirely unnecessary but it made me feel better. I really only did two proper stops even though it was a 7 hour, 610km ride - one at a diner for a croissant and cup of tea, and another diner for a hamburger, and I got into Oulu just as storm clouds were rolling in. I considered going into town to get a new charging cable while the shops were still open, but I didn't want to ...

      ... t dwell upon our parting too much – we would be seeing each other again in the coming months and as a group including Richard, in November.

      Our neighbouring boat in the harbour on the starboard side ( there was only one and one on the other) was unusually, sporting a Cruising Association burgee and even more unusually, she was a Finnish boat, a Hallberg Rassy 43 called Duo and belonging to Sakari and Merja Jorri.       ... 8217; – a mosquito repellent recommended on the Cruising Association web site, the repellent used by the Swedish armed forces and which Richard had bought over the internet. It certainly was effective, Rosemary poor girl, had her scalp targeted by the horrible creatures as she hadn’t used any whereas the rest of us remained itch free once we’d used it.       ... came across a fish shop, selling smoked fish amongst other things. We opted for some nicely prepared hot smoked salmon, looking like little pies but consisting entirely of fish wrapped around a garlic based filling or a pickle of some description.
