Weekend of October 24th/25th

This weekend couldn't have been a nicer weekend for wet season Guam.... After a long and crazy week the weather was perfect and the waves were almost glass making an awesome couple of days of diving. With only a few more weekends before I head home I don't have too much time left to see everything on my list for Guam. So I signed up for 4 boat dives.. two of which were free and the other two cost only 35 dollars ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... Double Reef Beach. The coves were really awesome and involved a little extra climbing to get down there but were totally worth the extra effort. There was no trash down there and it was just one of those spots that you know people haven't been in a long time and was just "pure". Two coves later I got down to Double Reef Beach and was just frozen in time for a minute. It was a small bay shaped open beach with perfect shade from Binalo trees and really shallow but nice ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... fall hurt just a bit .. youll see in the video my form wasnt exactly "smooth" haha. So if theres any doubters out there... I HAVE hit puberty as of today! The hike back was a different route but was very similiar to the way there. We encountered a lot of sawgrass, had amazing scenic views of the mountains, and got our fair share of Boonie Mud! copy and paste in your browser to watch..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTJ57wip An8
Yigo, Guam guamblog... bubbling from everyones exhales floating up made it even cooler. As the reef decends more and more, the fish are much more plentiful. They were EVERYWHERE, feeding on the coral and just swimming around in huge packs. Zebra looking fish to neon blue and orange fish to yellow and black fish... just every color you could imagine. And the fish here are used to snorkelers and scuba divers feeding them so not only are they not scared of you at all but they almost hover around you waiting ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblogYesterday Hubby felt under the weather. We had a day off. But, today, today is a big day for me: I am going to skydive! Pick up in a van full of (you guess it already) Japanese. And yes, the girl giving the introductions is ... Japanese and all my sky dive buddies are ... Japanese. The boring website of the company: http://www.skydiveguam.com/language/en/ This article is less boring: http://www.kuam.com/news/10539.aspx Once ...
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... guam. cfm Just saw it, do not know whether it is really that cool or what it costs. In the late afternoon we go to the Micronesian Mall to watch the new Indiana Jones. I am thrilled. Tony thinks it is a bit silly. Of course it is. But also a lot of fun. Do not tell anybody but afterwards we went to the Outback steakhouse, what part of this does not sound delicious? http://www.outback.com/foodandmenus/ All by all: a memorable day!
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... that. I have a Chamorro burger. Chamorro food is a mix of Spanish, Filipino and Pacific dishes. We make a beach walk afterwards and go home. A message from reception: if we extend we get the room for 70$ (instead of 74) and the car for 35 (instead of 40). That is a bit over a 100$ for room and car, we accept. What else did we do? I happily make ratatouille! My mum's Ratatouille, not Remy's. We drive around the island. It is pretty. Dr T ...
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... in love with a local boy but her father had promised her hand in marriage to a Spanish captain. Rather than marry the Spaniard against her wishes she and her lover braided their hair together and jumped to their deaths from this spot. My favourite thing about Guam was this Jamaican restaurant called The Jamaican Grill. Jerk seasoned food is one thing that you don't ...
Tamuning, Guam gypsymichelle... the magnetic anomalies of the ocean floor) which are different than normal values expected in the ocean floor. Those anomalies tell us a lot about the differences in composition in the ocean floor and in addition they help us to date the rocks (there is a well established worldwide time magnetometric scale for the ocean floor). In the next posting i will talk about Japanese food and what I have learned about Japanese customs and culture. Stay tuned...
Tuam Bay, Guam wildexplorer... is a bay in Inarajan that has a sunken Japanese ship in it. It's a dive spot. At Talofofo falls, there was a Japanese soldier who lived in a cave for numerous years- not knowing the war was over. They called him a hero. And today, there are numerous navy and air force installations, but the military presence is not overwhelming like it is in Hawaii. I would definitely say that the natives outnumber the military. With all that said,I'll turn now to uploading photos. Enjoy!
