ok... so after 2 months of being P_O ed about not finding Lower Sigua Falls the last time (should have brought a map blog), Joe and I headed out again with a different approach this time... using a map! We bought a guam hiking guidebook and map to navigate through the trails. I can't say that either helped much because the entire hike is Guam's mother nature idea of an ultimate CF but we did get there eventually so thats the ...
Yigo, Guam guamblog... a lot of Divers feed this guy and he is very friendly... coming out, swirling around you and even touching your mask. At one point it shot straight at me and litterally ran into my camera.. not the brightest crayon in the box but hey.. I guess you dont have to be when people feed you all day! The other real cool thing about that particular dive was the visibility. Its far outside of the harbor so theres not as much ...
Oceanview, Guam guamblog... the point where you could touch both shipwrecks... I had a friend of our snap the picture, as he has a high speed underwater camera. Im waiting on some of his pics to come out so ill upload those as soon as I can. Going down that deep, the pressure underwater increases a whole lot and uses up your air a hell of a lot quicker. We still had enough though to dive a little deeper and explore the bow of the SMS Cormoran.
Our second dive ...
... shotgunning an "applejuice" and these guys were in awe immediatly. I guess they had never seen anyone down a drink like that so they thought I was the man. Which is alright.. So I asked them where a good place to go was and they invited us to hang out with them and have a few drinks. Sounded like a good idea, so I went back to the truck rounded up the whole crew (except for Airman 1, who decided to stay in the truck) and headed over to the bonfire ...
Merizo, Guam guamblogYesterday Hubby felt under the weather. We had a day off. But, today, today is a big day for me: I am going to skydive! Pick up in a van full of (you guess it already) Japanese. And yes, the girl giving the introductions is ... Japanese and all my sky dive buddies are ... Japanese. The boring website of the company: http://www.skydiveguam.com/language/en/ This article is less boring: http://www.kuam.com/news/10539.aspx Once ...
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... guam. cfm Just saw it, do not know whether it is really that cool or what it costs. In the late afternoon we go to the Micronesian Mall to watch the new Indiana Jones. I am thrilled. Tony thinks it is a bit silly. Of course it is. But also a lot of fun. Do not tell anybody but afterwards we went to the Outback steakhouse, what part of this does not sound delicious? http://www.outback.com/foodandmenus/ All by all: a memorable day!
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... that. I have a Chamorro burger. Chamorro food is a mix of Spanish, Filipino and Pacific dishes. We make a beach walk afterwards and go home. A message from reception: if we extend we get the room for 70$ (instead of 74) and the car for 35 (instead of 40). That is a bit over a 100$ for room and car, we accept. What else did we do? I happily make ratatouille! My mum's Ratatouille, not Remy's. We drive around the island. It is pretty. Dr T ...
Tamuning, Guam tonyandmarina... in love with a local boy but her father had promised her hand in marriage to a Spanish captain. Rather than marry the Spaniard against her wishes she and her lover braided their hair together and jumped to their deaths from this spot. My favourite thing about Guam was this Jamaican restaurant called The Jamaican Grill. Jerk seasoned food is one thing that you don't ...
Tamuning, Guam gypsymichelle... Visited a park where a Japanese soldier lived hidden for 28 years after WWII ended. When he was found, he was nearly killed out of revenge - animosity toward the Japanese soldiers by the Chamarros still existed up until that time in 1972. It has been a long, tiring, and fascinating trip. Thanks for allowing me to share things with you. Please let me know if you have any questions as I know I'm ending rather abruptly now. Kristen
Hagatna, Guam kristenh99... lights of other hotels and businesses, taking in the beautiful view. I had a margarita- it wasn't as good as those in Texas, but still ok- and then headed into Tumon (the main shopping/gentlemen's club area in Guam) with Chris, John (the LTJG I relieved) and the Industrial Hygiene Officer, William, a big Puerto Rican guy with a thick, difficult-to-understand accent. We hung out for a while, ran into some of my sailors while out on the town, and decided finally to call it ...
