Aug 2nd - Left Cromwell just after 8am, Keith & Barbara drove us to Queenstown airport. Flight to Christchurch was uneventful but quite bumpy over Canterbury, dust clouds being raised from the dry riverbeds.. Flight to Melbourne was delayed. Steve's chair was in the middle next to the aisle, Adrian had three seats to himself directly opposite just near the window. Angela and Emanuele had seats just at the start if the wing near the ...

... the sun went down. We did with time to spare, and then we sat in some bleachers and waited for the penguins.

You can't take pictures because other tourists suck, but eventually, after about 45 minutes of waiting, a single penguin came waddling out of the surf on the beach.
And then a bunch of others did.
They came in groups of what seemed to be 10-15, but I never actually counted. I was too busy enjoying the adorableness of penguins.

They came in their groups ...
