Conveniently close to the airport, and located by a bus route with direct access the central Helsinki. The room had a kitchenette and was clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful with local information and bus schedules, and let me leave my bags while I went into town for a while, then drove me back to the airport.

... get water, you had to tilt the pot toward you until water came out of the spout. I loved it!

After lunch, we had a few hours of free time to explore and shop before heading back to the ferry to return back to Finland. I got some pretty cool stuff to bring home but again, can’t ruin the surprise for some people. One noteworthy event that happened when we arrived back at the ferry terminal in Finland was when I was on the flat escalator going on a downward slant. ...

After not really knowing what to expect from our time in the Baltic countries, we really enjoyed the 2 weeks we had, and now have a lot more appreciation of the struggles that the people in this region have been though over the ...

... and find my luggage. Well that sounds promising! Of course, now it's 5:55 or so and the airport is roughly an hour by bus. According to Google Maps, we'd arrive at 7:03. Naturally, we bolt.

Now that we're pretty familiar with the city, the main train station/bus depot was in actuality a mere few minute walk away, and we hopped on the bus. Made it to the counter at 6:58pm. Luggage acquired!

By this point of course we were completely starved. ...

... while Hoki did some more exploring.

The smooth sea made for a lazy day. The rhythmic hum and vibration of the ship's engines had a real calming effect, and I found myself dozing off several times. It’s amazing that even though I had been out of the Navy for over 23 years, my body quickly adapted to the feel of being at sea. I guess once a sailor, always a sailor. Over the course of the day I finished a couple of blog episodes, so late in the afternoon, ...
