... was a large disused cooling tower from an old power plant. It was painted mainly in bright blue and Ian said the towers at Soweto were better !

... was in the recent past...that it only ended in 1994, the year I was born and it was kind of jolting to realize how close to home it still is. After the museum we headed to the bus station to catch an afternoon bus to Gaborone, getting in just in time to crash in bed!

It was a great way to spend Valentine's weekend and a great start for trips to come! This weekend we'll be staying put in Gaborone and I'll spend it held up in the library ...

... it, not relatable to any other city I've ever been too. Yes it is a little ratty and dirty in places, and a few bricks randomly loose and highly trip-able, but Johannesburg is quite nice, with lots of trees.

We got to fully appreciate this when we went up the Carlton Centre, the tallest building in Africa at 222.51 m, pretty measly in comparison to the rest of the world really. But it was great to see all the people going about their daily ...

... view that he presented. Everyone has their opinions, however, I tended to agree with him on most of the aspects. Lindsey wasnt too happy that we were staying long. She was a trooper though and stuck it through....

After the visit, mostly no one wanted to go out for dinner since everyone kind of nibbled on the food provided by our evening visit. We (with the exception of Mike) ended up sitting at the lounge until about 12:00.

... 23 March 2014 Transfer day to the Paradise Hotel on the stunning island of Praslin. This is our second home and as much as we have enjoyed our stay on Mahe, 2 days was enough to travel the island and see what it has to offer. While waiting in domestic departures Tracey took part in some retail therapy and bought a new costume with much advice from the other little elves.
