Leaving Milano, we started the day with Bergamo which is an ancient town about 40 km east of Milan we've been hearing a lot about. I have to admit that it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Maybe it's just me setting my expectation too high.

... right on the lake, it had gorgeous views of the Alps as well. We walked along the water and grabbed some lunch. It was very nice. We returned to Bergamo, walked around a little longer and went back to the hostel to sleep.
In the morning, we got up early and had some breakfast before we headed off to the airport to go to Greece!

After our long trip from Chamonix we arrived pretty late in Milan. Even though our hotel was off the main circle we were able to spend that night near Duomo thanks to tram line 14. I can't even begin to explain how breathtaking Duomo is. It's truly one of the best churches I've ever seen and I'd strongly recommend you to see it at night. October 29 - November 1
Our friends, Jim and Eimear Fisher, were vacationing in the Canary Islands and agreed to meet us for a few days of wine and conversation. We chose a location that was a direct flight for both of us and ended up in Milan, Italy. Time was short so we needed to make the best of it. First note, Milan is beautiful. It is everything I expected Italy to be. It is full of history, culture, fashion, food, wine and shoes and handbags!
