    There was entertainment in the bar. A violinist and a pianist and a MC...not sure why they needed a MC, maybe no English?? They were very good, I wish Sue Ball was here to tell us - because I know they were not symphony caliber but very good musicians, and this job gives them a chance to do what they love. Make a living? Not sure about that...although there are many, many tourists.

    We arrived in Cologne at noon, and after another delicious lunch we headed off on a tour of the city, which is dominated by the Cologne Cathedral. One word for the Cathedral - WOW!!! Us Catholics sure know how to spend the peasants money!!...:-)

    Early this morning, about 4.30, we sailed passed Frankfurt and onto Cologne, berthing at about 1pm. We opted for the city walking tour which was about 1.5 hour duration. We learnt about the history of Cologne, or Koln as it is called in Germany. With a population of 1 million, it's the 4th biggest city in Germany (behind Berlin, Hamberg, Munich). The Romans established a settlement at this location on the Rhine about 2000 years ago and it has has continuous settlement ever ...

    ... Jochen again in town and had a quick visit to a beer cellar where we were regularly served 'the' beer (there was only one choice on the beer menu) which tasted surprisingly better and colder than it looked. Having knocked three or four back we went home again for barbecue on Ulla's porch and a fine time was had by all discussing all of our various travels, Jochen in particular doing a good job of selling Namibia to us.

    Leaving in the morning was not great. I'd liked to have stayed ...

    So after being delayed at Stansted for 2 1/2 hours, I missed my connecting flight from Dusseldorf - cue a slightly bedraggled mad dash around the airport trying to find an Airberlin representative!
