... not disappointed! It was a solid medium size balcony next to a wall that had green vines growing up high that maybe Romeo climbed up to reach the balcony? A very romantic setting! We then drove on to Venice ( Venezia ) for our next stop over at the Hotel Albatross in the suburb of Mestre. On the way we watched the movie "The Tourist" because it was set mainly in Venice. We were glad of air con tonight but no free wifi unfortunately so missed out on updating this travel blog as ...

In the morning we hung out at the hostel until it was time to catch our train. The journey was 6.5 hours, so lucky we had two nice Italians, Sylvia and Mikael, and a cool Australian guy called Dominic (who teaches psychology at the University of Melbourne) to share the time with.

And of course wine and espresso;) It was the biggest dinner we've ...

... fantastic traveling duo. San Marco's square was incredible. We visited the basicalla, climbed the tower, visited the doges palace (or as rachel rather affectionately referred to as Doug's place) to the galleria academia which was casually housing a Leonardo da Vinci exhibition. (Yes we did see the sketch in dan brown's da Vinci code!!!!!!! ) so basically we did a lot. However, after visiting all of see wonderful places ...

... St. Marco’s Basilica is really amazing, and they even let you (for a fee, of course) walk along the roof of the church, which we found pretty wild. There are a lot of beautiful and ornate buildings and carvings, but there was really a lack of available historical information about how they came to be or what kind of impact they had. If anyone plans to go, I would buy some sort of guide in advance that ...
