Bareboat Whitsundays....Romantic Escapes

Airlie Beach is a very small little town and we spent a couple of days there just getting our provisions for the boat together and sitting in the lagoon because it was very hot and humid walking around the town. We sat on the balcony enjoying some champagne and listening to live music on foreshore. The weather has not been fantastic but we figured it is the wet season and thats what you get. At least it is still warm so it doesn't matter if you get wet. We went down to Abel Point Marina on th...

Alright alright. So, I'm kinda bummed right now cause I lost the SD card from my camera with all my pictures on it, so that really blows cause I have no pictures of Fraser (and there were some pretty damn good ones, too), but it's not the end of the world, the earth still spins and life goes on.

Okay, so since my last entry, I've been doing the whole fraser thing. I gotta say, it didn't really live up to expectations, I thought it would be this totally manic party time, and it definate...

Getting ready for the cruise!!

... had sobered up enough and wasn't to bad. I was a little nervous I'll be honest but soon got used to the bubbles going up around your face making a racket as I breathed out compared with snorkeling which is silent. So we all moved off the beach and everyone was doing well so the instructor dropped us down beneath the surface of the water using our buoyancy aids. Which is a jacket that inflates or deflates with air so you can control the level you sit under the water to ...

Partying up the Oz East Coast - Fraser Island etc

... track from the ferry was soft sand and so pretty much straight away a jeep got stuck and we were stuck in a queue! Not long after we got stuck..... fun and games!
Lake Wabby involved a gruelling 45 min walk to get there... gruelling as you're walking uphill through sand! Awesome though... you get to the top and it's like being in a desert..... run down the sand dunes and you're in a fresh lake full of catfish.... cooool!!

Then it was off to find a place to camp for ...

sailing in paradise....

... a few goons but couldn't before. Maybe it was the togas we were dressed in...they did make beautiful sails for the pool. Good times...
So the next day we set sail again and went to the barrier reef to snorkel, saw some good fish again. Then sailed to whitehaven beach if you google you will see what i mean by paradise. The whitest softest sand in the world and apparently one of the top 10 beaches in the world. simply beautiful. The sea is lovely and warm too like a bath ...

... were big but the ceiling was very very close! We then parked up at Blue Pearl Bay and off we went to snorkel ...it was amazing! Lots of fish, a Mary Wrasse who let some divers stroke her and lots of beautiful coral. We also got to grips with using Aidan's camera underwater. The first evening was tough as we drove on to moor up overnight at Whitehaven bay. However to achieve this we had to drive through the washing machine...even Aidan experienced some sea sickness ...

Valge liiv ja läbipaistev vesi

... liivaga hoolikalt oma käevõrusid. Silica sand ehk ränikiviliiv (?) pidavat olema parim vahend ehete läikima löömiseks; teisest küljest leidub ka tegelasi, kellele see liiv ei meeldi: kilpkonnad. Võib-olla neile niisama seal ringi käia meeldib, aga munade haudumiseks pole see just kõige sobivam keskkond, sest tänu erilisele koostisele ei lähe liiv kunagi kuumaks - inimesele sobiv, kilpkonnale mitte :) Ja mis võiks järgneda peale suurt kõhutäitmist? No ikka ...

Airlie Beach & The Whitsunday Islands, Australia

We took the ferry from Magnetic Island to Townsville on Saturday morning and drove to Airlie Beach. Airlie beach was a lot more touristy than I expected. Everything there seems to revolve around tourists and sending them on trips to the Whitsundays. We found a caravan park on the outskirts of the town and collected Dan and Ema from the greyhound bus as they were going to stay there too. We spent a quiet night on the campsite playing cards, very ...
