Being Drunk and Tired in Auckland

Unfortunately disaster has struck following 45 hours without sleep and some champagne last night..we decided to be really silly at the Sky Tower..which is like double the height of the Eiffel Tower or something..anyway, it's 328 metres.....and I thought I'd do some gymnastics on the glass (reinforced before you all scream)..Everbody thought it was really funny and all was well until I woke up this morning..with a frozen shoulder. I'm in absolute agony and they reckon it's gonna take quite a f...

Bay of Islands

Monday April 5, 2004 Auckland to Bay of Islands All Contiki travelers met up at the Airedale Hotel at noon. Although the room was full of unfamiliar faces, everyone was very friendly and quick to introduce themselves. After some preliminary logistical matters, we boarded the bus and headed towards the subtropical region of the Bay of Islands. Prior to our arrival, we stopped off at Parry Kauri Park. After many hours of driving, we finally arrived at the Bay of Islands. The Bay of Islands has a...

Our journey so far UK to San Fran to NZ

We left the UK in style flying business class with BA to San Fran. At the airport I nearly ran the sniffer dog over as it was so small and went under my rucksack and I didn't see it (it would only happen to me, we did laugh). As part of our morning ritual we had our makeup done in Maceys, they had the most amazing make up, including makeup in all different flavours including marshamlow, that you could eat, only in America. I did have to point out to Laura that if she eat it she wouldn't have ...

Life is beautiful in New Zealand

Life is beautiful. Auckland is a very nice town. I'm staying at the Scenic Airedale, in a luxury suite for a good deal (even got a bottle of wine with it!). Slept for 9 hours, much better then in the plain coming over via Seoul. But I shouldn't complain at all, since I had the privilige of flying Prestige Class.. Anyways, I am enjoying this beautiful sunny and friendly city. Strangely enough: - Bakery Shops in NZ do not sell bread, but only coffee and cakes. Bread is hard to come by. That is ...

... blindfolded taster for a test comparing organic, home-grown asparagus, and that bought from the supermarket. It was hardly a scientific test; the asparagus specimens were obviously displayed - they were two different sizes, so I could easily tell which was which. I also introduced myself holding gardening tools in a cheesy, awkward way, which I am sure turned out great.

But I am grateful for the hospitality, good food, and comfortable accommodation I have received here from Keith and ...

Day 3

... front. Took a harbor cruise and met a guy who told us we needed to go check out the sheep ranch.... think we will pass! Beautiful day, sat in the sun, had mexican and margaritas for lunch, and then the jet lag took over. Went to the room for a little nap and never left again.... Did I mention the jet lag kicked in? Woke up on Saturday at 6:00 and we were back on schedule! Lessons Learned: - Nothing can keep jet lag at bay.

... liked it, but I was disappointed of the shape it was in. It was all worn away by the weather. The Marbles at the top were gone, because a long time ago Lord Elgin took (not stole) the marbles to England.  We went to many museums, including the War Museum, and the Hellenic Cosmos Museum. The Hellenic Cosmos was my favorite by far, because it does virtual reality time travel presentations. There really cool. While we were there they ...

Up to last day at 19, Roband Ave

... off with the relatively gentle rides, the dodgem cars and boats, the log flume and then moved on to the "high G" rides, the Corkscrew Roller Coaster and Power Surge. Grandma declined to join Jake and I on the last two, but Jake decided he liked them so much we had to do them again! Altogether a good day out. Made a detour to Devonport on the way home for ice cream on the sea front and then the final BBQ on the deck at 19 Roband Ave. 22.01 ...

... forking out another $50 for the dvd and photos! Bit of a ripoff. Needed a drink after that so we found a few pubs then went Mexican for dinner. We had the smallest jug we have ever seen of Margarita - only 500 mls for $22. Another Auckland ripoff. 06 January Had the worst $83 haircut ever from a salon in the Downtown Westfield mall. Quite annoyed at how bad it looked when I got back to the hotel, and even more so when I washed it ...
