Milan for a moment. ~ Oct. 6 I loved Milan but was sadly there for only one night. I found it to be a very easy city to walk around and navigate being flat and laid out more or less as a grid radiating out from the huge central railway station. ... very old, historic and interesting. Our first stop was a shop recommended by Jon where we actually bought my Venetian Mask and also some Murano Glass souvenirs and pressies. Jon suggested that the prices, quality and authenticity were good, so we took heed of his suggestion. The mask and Murano glass are actually made in Venice but are cheaper to buy in Florence than they are in Venice !?! He also recommended some shops to look at for quality leather goods, which we explored ...

... comes here to see Michelangelo's David, which may be the most celebrated sculpture in the world. Soon after entering the gallery, the image of this masterpiece becomes visible at the end of a long corridor, which is lined with several other sculptures by Michelangelo, including the Quatro Prigioni, a series of unfinished sculptures depicting prisoners struggling to free themselves from the marble stone.

... great street food and a beautiful cathedral that we discovered. I had a pizza from a street cart that was premature then they fold it up after heating and u eat it like a sandwich. The pizza here has much less sauce and topping plus a thin crust so it was not hard to eat. It sure is wonderful :)

The best part the trip was becoming a Tuscan chief and meeting some fun travelers. We went to a cooking class and made a 4 course meal. We had a cheesy eggplant ...

... Vasari, to build a passage way that would allow him and the Medici family to move freely from their residence, now in Palazzo Pitti on the other bank of the Arno River, to the government palace in Palazzo della Signoria.



Luckily for us we were able to walk this hidden Vasari Corridor - Medici's secret passageway -above the streets, between the houses, even passing through a church and above the Ponte Vecchio.
