Summary

Drove 140 miles on 2.5 hours.

Highlights

The purpose of this stop was to take a peak at the legendary Augusta National Golf Course, the home of the US Masters golf tournament.

The town itself is nondescript for such a famous location. Its hard to fathom where the spectators and media would stay during the tournament as its not a large town and dining and entertainment options are limited.

Polo was first played in Aiken in 1882. Polo ponies were imported by Tom Hitchcock in the 1880's. Tom and Tommy Hitchcock were considered to be the best at Polo (10 goalers). It is said that F. ... distinct regional cultures. It’s cool to see, and I think this is the reason I loved the south so much. The whole thing feels like you are cruising through a movie set, 50-100 years ago. I would highly recommend going to Papa Joe’s too for anyone visiting the States. They have it every May, this was it’s 5th year. The people, food, music and venue are fabulous – a true Southern experience! ...

... Not with answers to impossible questions, not with easy comforts to impossible woundedness, but with an impossible openness that allows us to make our response and hold on in the midst of the unknown.

In my mind, as my sleepy thoughts wander still in the place between the realms of dream and awake, I am doing this. I am standing with the tiny bouquet I plucked from the field south of Waynesboro, a flush of purple-blooming weeds and a single stem of red clover. I have come ...
