... br>The expo was next with 125 stalls set up with each country selling their tradition wares. So obviously Australian wine and SA boreworst had to be sampled.

... to see Ashley and have Thanksgiving with her and her husband. Another one of my good friends, Jessica Cavazos's, younger sister happened to be in the area so she came out for the event as well. I'm not sure that her original plan included coming to Luxembourg (or Belgium which is the country that I'm actually in although I can see the border from the window) but when she arrived in Paris last week she immediately fell down a flight of stairs and broke ...
Luxembourg, Luxembourg torilusk... heard some Luxemburgish music and I liked it. Conrad worked on the computer to map our route for tomorrow while Karyn and I chatted. Spoogy sat in her lap for a bit and then made his way to mine. He is a very sweet dog! We all went to bed at 11 pm. I stayed up for an hour more to upload pictures while making a tent with my blanket. I hid under it because it was warmer that way! I drifted off to sleep at midnight.
Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg tonkin... night. Friday morning and the power cut off again as Robbie switched on a light. Fortunately I had already dried my hair and it was fixed by the time I got home. At work it felt like Christmas - there was no one around. That was until it came to lunchtime when everyone went to the cafe to see how the new catering company, which started today, would do. Most of us were quite impressed. The last company was pretty terrible and I found myself eating rabbit and ...
Clausen, Luxembourg, Luxembourg watchoutworld... ing, Raclette has rocketed way up my list of favourite world cuisines! Brilliantly conceived by some continental mastermind, this two-tiered toasting contrivance stands proudly in the middle of the dining tables across the region. A range of tasty ingredients like smoked hams and bacons, sausage, peppers, onions and mushrooms cook upon the top ...
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg technotrekker... Mostly large sandstone formations set amidst light deciduous forest, the wonderfully maintained paths (I didn't lose the paths once!)were blessedly cool to walk along on as scorching hot day, with some fantastic views thrown in for good measure. The 15km walk gave me plenty of time to amble and daydream a litle, and realise how good it feels to be out and moving again, instead of killing time, as I had been feeling a bit in Prague. Fresh air!!
Echternach, Luxembourg mrconfused... We were behind time due to taking so long to find "the spot" and when Martyn dropped us at a fuel station outside a place called Hank it didn't get any better. After a long wait Bert picked us up followed by Mustapha. Mustapha was our man for breakfast. He took us across the border into Belgium and dropped us in a place called Boom. For an English speaker that was pretty funny, mind you, so was Hank. We had breakfast at the Boom Bistro. The only problem with breakfast was that it ...
Luxembourg, Luxembourg endeuro2000... small country, all the cartoons on TV and in the newspaper seemed to not have words, just gestures and sound. The weather was kind of grey, the food was good. We discovered Croque Monsieurs (like grilled cheese sandwiches with ham -delish!)
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, Luxembourg lolly... Casemates - tunnels and chambers dug to further fortify Luxembourg city. Saw Notre Dame church and walked along the park at the bottom of the valley where we found an old church built into the side of the hill. Luxembourg is a beautiful medieval valley.
