... 15 minutes to take pictures by the small river which had very little water in it and a lot of garbage. We got back on the bus and drove to Aleta to see an old church and that was locked soooo we went back to the ship and went to dinner but first I talked on the phone and managed to lose my glasses. Didn't realize it however until after dinner and then ...
Alicante, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands mamafeathers... of Biscay which can be very stormy, fingers crossed it will be a fine crossing. We land at 8.00 am Friday morning and then we drive across Spain to the Costa Calida where we plan to spend a few weeks in a small Spanish village called Roldan, then we move on to a town called Lo Pagan,
Lo Pagán, Murcia, Spain and Canary Islands lowrusThese pictures are from me trying to take a photo of myself writing with my ancient feather pen from the Alicante market and from walking around Alicante on a tour of the the two cathedrals, San Nicolas y Santa Barbara.
The pictures later are from our visit to two little pueblos just outside of Alicante; Guadalest and Altea. In the little town of Guadalest is a beautiful castle ...
Alicante, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands jessicahwang... I wish my friends could be here with me. I know they would love this place. I wish they could visit. But all in all, I know that I have to do this on my own, though I'm lucky to have found such a great friend and companion in Elizabeth.
I hope that Alicante becomes someplace that I treasure forever. And more so that I learn Spanish and that it shows me that I can do something great, be something great, and be me. At my best.
Alicante, Valencian Country, Spain and Canary Islands jessicahwang... after a few miles of cycling. Murcia basically has about 6 motorways going through it. Cant cycle on these. cant navigate because of our incredibly basic A3 map of spain. So we went and bought a beer. Then, a bit drunk (what!? it was hot and we were dehydrated from cycling) we aimlessly cycled around until we found a more detailed map behind some perspex glass, up a lamp post, at a bus stop. Probably shouldnt have taken it but desperate times.. . . . we are ...
El Palmar, Murcia, Spain chris_jones01... i did feel guilty, but i genuinly thought it was all you can eatand i have to say nothing could stop me from laughing. I managed to eat all my food in their but the cook stole the sandwiches the Belgians had made. The situation was then made worse when Vince accidently smashed a glass during our hasty get away. It was almost like a scene from curb your enthusiasm. Truly genius.

We met in a near by park with ...
Orihuela, Valencia, Spain chris_jones01... consists of three countries". So, in my English accent i played along and said "I am English". He said " they don't teach you things like that in uni, but its important". Agreeingly, I replied "well, I have been to uni and they certainly did not teach me that". He then said that the best way to keep your passport safe is to bury it. Well after loosing the coke bottle in the sand this certainly wasnt an option for me. However, it may be an idea to buy Alex a shovel.
Alacante, Valencia, Spain chris_jones01... few hours Miguel turned up and told us his stories of being lost which involved running round the city for two hours looking confused. He obviously went up for a shower. Shortly after a German girl (Jessica) started talking to me looking to meet some people. She told me a funny story about how she had just seen this crazy looking confused person running around a bus stop. This story was ...
Alacante, Valencia, Spain chris_jones01We left the safety of Alicante to make our way further down the coast towards Cartagena in what was predicted to be a 15 - 20 knot breeze. I say "predicted to be" as the weather forecasts and we have 3 sources, have been proven to be wrong and grossly at that. And so 1hr along, the Med typical as ever decided to change her mind and whip up to a 35 - 40 knot gale. So from skipping along nicely it quickly went to be tossed around in a washing machine where everything was falling ...
Torrevieja, Spain and Canary Islands bellavita... awaited us onshore and after we all cleaned up, Chris and I went for a long walk. We'd been missing our exercise lately, not walking very far or very long since our excursion on land in Italy. We noticed an old large castle-looking structure high on the point as we entered the harbor and decided to walk around to check it out. To quote Lonely Planet, Ibiza "once a hippie hideaway, now more mainstream 'hip' is best known for its extraordinary clubbing ...
