So as the coach (bus) crossed the brow of the mountain just past the Rock of Gibraltar, I found myself with a **** eating grin on my face like I haven't had since I touched down in China 10 years ago. There it was, Africa! I dreamed of going there since I was a kid and there it was in plain view across the Straights of Gibraltar. Could hardly keep myself from LOL with happiness. Got on the Jet Ferry which whizzed over the 14 KM in just over 30 minits, through customs, and there I was in Tangi...

3rd April Woke up early to see of Valeria who had to go to work. Walked with her to the metro stop and said goodbye. It was sad to say goodbye to her as she helped us so much in the first week, and whenever she was at work, she made sure we knew what stations to get off at and what buses to catch. We packed up our gear, and went for a walk around the neighbourhood to take some photos of the real suburb areas of Mexico City. We had to catch the metro out to the end ...
Taxco, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico solskjaer20...
Taxco, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico kunzandwanner... in NZ for $250 mexican. So pretty pleased. When we arrived in the Zocalo some small mexican thrust silver bangles in my face literally while I was halfway out of the taxi. (I think I will get a T-shirt that says "no gracias" - they are persistant wee things I'll give them that!) about 10secs later we met Rufino the local tourist man who said the place we were planning to stay at was a **** and we should follow ...
Taxco, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico factTime to move on to Taxco, yet another really pretty affluent (due to the silver mines) colonial cobbled city with ornate buildings built up a steep hillside - the views were great & with all the churches & terracotta tiled rooftops, looked & felt like a Mediterranean city. If the Teleferico had been working might have been better still! Went to see the local caves which were quite impressive but were ruined by the ridiculously long & childish (they have a habit of ...

Whilst here I stayed at Hotel Casa Arellano, Calle de Pajaritos No. 23, Tel: 01 (762) 622-0215. This excellent value budget hotel is a backpacker's favourite. It benefits from a central location beside the market, and offers small en-suite rooms with cable TV for 200 + 320 peso for 1 or 2 persons. A room with a shared bathroom will set you back 140 + 280 peso for 1 or 2 ...
Arrived about 7.30pm to this silver mining town in the mountains. It is a beautiful journey up here in the bus and the tiny streets are bustling with cars and people, it is crazy, but nice! We had a lovely evening and morning in Taxco just walking around the markets stalls that fill the tiny streets. We also visited the cathedral in the Zocalo, which is really beautiful inside and had a plaque commemorating the visit of John Paul II. We also walked up the steep hill to ...
Taxco, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico littleshivyStarted to go out eating breakfast with 5 French girls but we couldn't find a descent place with continental breakfast. So I got some yogurt from a store. Then I went out and bought some porcelain and took a shave at a local barber. Later I took the bus to Mexico City and then to Toxca. Toxca is nice old silver mine up in the mountains with steep and narrow streets and has now become a tourist attraction. Anyway found a place to stay and met Charlotte and Andreas from Emdrup (Denmark).
