... hiring a car in Sicily but after some discussion we decided against it and just head to Palermo tomorrow by train for a few days, and not to try and cram so much in, after adjusting our plans we walked around Messina town. Difficult to get a good perspective at night however it was a pleasant walk. Looking around for somewhere traditional to eat, where do we end up.....MacDonalds! The sacrifices one makes for your kids. My choice tomorrow.

... lava and beautiful autumn vegetation. We then passed into the lava flows of the 2001 eruptions, which are still just bare rock and ash. The backdrop to the snow capped summit was stunning. We went for a bit of a walk around some craters, freezing but luckily clear enough for some sensational views. Then abruptly the mist rolled on, it was brilliant. ... fears of not feeling safe and decided we had 2 options; 1. Book a tour or 2. Stay on the ship. We reviewed the tour catalogue and chose a tour. Toby rang the tour desk and thankfully there were vacancies for the tour in English. We secured a placement and then watched the only English TV chanel before bed - sky news - all night coverage of Ebola in West Africa - we went to sleep frighten!

We had a great day today. Montana and I attended many on board activities including a Quiz Game which Montana was selected to be captain for as well as spectating at the Pool Volleyball game. It was nice to relax on board for the day and soak up the atmosphere. We saw little of Maddi today as her and David moved between the Games Arcade and the Games Room before ...

... decided to buy the pistachio liquer, of course, and the pesto. The 'must have' limoncello when in Italy was also on the list. On the way out of the shop, I found another little morsel which looked good as well. See photo number 5! My Etna is an active volcano on the east coast of Sicily. Whilst it was interesting to see, I am not sure we would return nor would I necessarily recommend it. With only one day in Sicily, the drive to and from Mt Etna used up ...
