Today is a sleep in as I enjoy a day at sea. During the night they steamed at 16.2 knots to cross the Ionian Sea and then pat the most southern tip of Italy. We passed into the Strait of Messino which is in between Reggio Calabria , Italy and Messino on the island of Sicily. The most narrow point here was only 2 miles at Calabria. I had not idea that the cruise was to be so scenic. I am delighted about the sights from the ship. Yes this is the life! I am enjoying every minute of the ...

Ugh, Another Day at Sea

A travel blog entry by bridgez on Jul 16, 2015

Today is our last dreaded day at sea. We slept late, grabbed a surprisingly good burger, and sat by the pool. Just when we were ready to return to our room, the day's movie, Skyfall, came on the big screen outdoor TV. So we jumped in the pool and watched the movie! A whole day at sea, can be a bit boring, but we kept ourselves (or rather the bar staff) busy. We also opted for a galley tour of the ship, where we were taken into the bowels of ...

Messina, italy

A travel blog entry by cassie.goehring on Jun 20, 2015

Today our first stop was in Messina, Italy. This is a port that we visited last time we went on our Mediterranean cruise. We decided to do a little exploring on our own this time. We rented a little car ( as you do when you are in Italy). The streets are very narrow and roads aren't that great so it definitely was an experience! We decided to drive to a beach about an hour from the port. We had to drive around for quit some time to find a parking spot and then walked down to the beach in ...

Dubrovnik Croatia

Dubrovnik was right up there with Malta in terms of amazing sights and history. You could spend days here reading and researching its history. Croatia has such a diverse history that you could not cover it all in the short time that we were there. Vicki and I climbed and walked the old city walls, which was a challenge in itself. It was bloody hot, and there are **** loads of ...
