I had such a great day in Cinque Terre that I decided not to try to repeat it again today and instead to go to Florence for a night on my way to Venice. I took the train from Riomaggiore to La Spezia where I bought my new tickets and had lunch at the market a few blocks from the train station while waiting for my train to Pisa and then Florence. Only going to stay in Florence tonight and then I will be off to ...
... and it was a little intense seeing all of the buildings and roofs were the exact same two colors. Then we walked to the top of the inside and got a good view of the murals on the ceiling of the cathedral. So does this mean we will have other things on the ...
... I would've cried. I nearly did. Holy **** I don't even.
That fresco is the most impressive thing I've seen, really, seriously. The planning is insane. The forshortening is great, they dealt with the shape of the dome so well, I just. Holy ****.
And the church underneath was super interesting as well and a lot more Roman, haha. (Of course, there were Medici buried down there as well. Fffff.)
