Up and out early and to the Accademia. We arrive at 7:30 to find only one other couple waiting. They are at the reserved entrance and we are at the unreserved. They came and talk to us and realise they should be unreserved too, so we let them have first place since they were there first. Slowly people start arriving. Quite a number seemed to know each other and we found out later they had been in the queue together yesterday. The couple just behind us are from Newcastle ...

We left our lovely villa Casale dei Frontini behind and headed first to Spello. Another quaint, stone village with flower boxes lining the streets. Bought prosciutto from a tiny little shop that was overflowing with produce. The hams all hung up on display.

But the guide was very funny and he tried to keep us out of the rain most of the time. There were lots of street vendors selling umbrellas and ponchos. I already had an umbrella, but I didn't have a poncho. Got one for the low, low price of €5 (sarcasm):/ I did appreciate having the poncho after ...

    My First Italian Catholic Mass

Sarah and I googled Catholic Churches in Florence and it came up with Basilica di Santa Croce, and decided we better make our parents proud and attend the 6:00 night mass! I was so excited to be going to a Basilica to make it feel a little like home! The Basilica was MASSIVE! We walked around the outside, deciding on what door we were suppose to enter. We finally asked a local and she led us ...
