... creature. It's scorchingly hot, so it's nice to have columned porticoes through part of the city. Nearby I find the ruins of a Roman arena... then up through the narrow alleys with flags flying the provincial patters on the corners... Then up a ridge to a mighty fortress where I get my first glimpse of the Tuscany countryside. I guess I could say I'm intrigued by Tuscany, hearing how people rave about its charm and beauty. ... more artworks in storage). The Louvre in Paris was spectacular but for me this place just blew it away. In the end though it became overwhelming, and by the time we’d seen the Cistine Chapel we were ‘art’ed out’. Our stay in Villa Vignamaggio was so nice. This is what we pictured as Tuscany and what we thought Italy should look like.

We had a chance to have dinner with a local family in a small town just outside of Greve. This was the highlight of the entire trip.

... to wait for the restaurant to open but they didnt mind us sitting there having a drink. And once we got into the restaurant and ordered it was great! The food was absolutely fantastic, fresh asparagus with poached egg with parmasen for entree and I had braised Tuscan beef for main with Mick 9 hour oven roasted proscuitto. All was fantastic. Ok, excess baggage going home may not all be in the suitcase!!!!!!!!

... lunch since the center doesn't serve lunch on the weekends, and the restaurant we went to called Roggi's was really good! (I don't think I'm going to find any food here I don't like, I even tried some fish and it wasn't THAT bad). We also ventured down to the Co-op which is like the grocery store here only to find out it was closed and we had hiked to the bottom of the hill for no reason... but its ok we needed to walk off all the food we had eaten earlier!
