This is the last leg of our Italian adventure. Left Venice this morning by water taxi from our hotel to the train station. After a short train journey arrived in Verona. Our hotel is a beautifully converted palazzo very grand!!! Of course we had to explore the shops first although shock and horror there is no Prada!! ... a tiny courtyard. I'm sorry to say the house actually has no connection with the Shakespeare tale and the balcony was added in 1936 for tourists. The entry walls are littered with love notes on bits of scrap paper and stuck to the wall, some times with gum. In 2012 there were big finds issued for littering, but it hasn't stopped people. started to stroll. We had a coffee in a pavement café in front of
the arena, and wandered down the shopping streets until we came
across the market square. More coffee, or maybe beer followed.
Every street we turned down led to a hidden square, fabulous old
architecture or something else of interest. This city proved to be
the unexpected gem of the holiday and it was a pity we did not have

gates and another bar or two. At the end of a lovely day, we hiked
back to the hotel and sat on the roof top watching the sun drop in
the sky while drinking Prosecco. Our evening meal was in the pizza
restaurant near the hotel again. Unfortunately the friendly waiter
was not there again.
