3 Days in Cori

... and he knows and is known by everyone. My cousins and their families still live in Cori.

Within a half-hour drive from Cori, one reaches the bigger cities of Aprilia and Latina, that have much shopping and open markets. The beaches at Anzio or less than an hour away. Unfortunately, we did not go to the beach even if it was sunny and hot the 3 days we spent in Cori.

Day 15- Coming Clean

Today we were off to Cori to take a tour of an Olive Oil factory. But of course plans change all the time in Italy. We headed towards the gardens of Nimfa that are on the way to Cori but we got lost for about 30 minutes lol. Once we were there we ended up having to wait for our guide to come back since we were late. Eventually we headed into the gardens though. Because of the humidity and the ...

GLORIOUS GAETA

... helpful, especially if you try to speak a word or two in Italian.

A weekly market is held on a Wednesday morning, located in "Corso Cavour".

From one o'clock most businesses shut down as the locals return home to their families to eat a hearty lunch. Often they then take a long nap afterwards. The shops generally reopen from 4 o'clock onwards.

In the summer evenings you will see many of the inhabitants of ...

ITRI Was So Lovely We Decided To Make It Our Home

... near to Itri, on the outskirts of Formia.

During the era when young British aristocrats and scholars undertook the cultural "Grand Tour" of Italy, a common itinerary would have included Rome, Venice, Florence and Naples. Thus many great artists and writers would have journeyed along the route of the Via Appia, and Itri may have been a welcoming resting place for weary travellers.

Sperlonga's Historic Charm & Golden Sandy Beaches

... the Riviera di Levante. Here the Aurunci Mountains come down to the shore, and trees and greenery line the coast. Most of the beach is taken up with beach establishments, where you can pay to use the facilities, such as comfortable sunbeds, parasols, showers and changing facilities, and you can enjoy refreshments from the bar. However there are also ample stretches of spiaggia libera, "free beach", where you sunbathe, swim for free ...

Arrivederci Italia

It was the last day, that great day of our travels... The Church in Italy bid us "Arrivederci" on the beach releasing one balloon for each person here for the celebration. It was quite a sight. Now it is evening/almost morning and everyone is celebrating around the Piano Man. We leave for Paris tomorrow at 2:30pm.

Fourth Day - Vatican Tour

Our bus left for the Vatican around 7:30. We only had a few hours to walk around the entire museum so we chose not to stay with our tour guide. All the art work was breath taking and over whelming. We ran out of time but we were able to see most of it. We miss St. Peter's Basilica. We couldn't take pictures in the Sistine Chapel but ...

DAY 11 - Rome, Italy

DAY 11 - Rome, Italy Today we had a free day to explore Rome and it was another scorcher, VERY warm! The day started with a guided tour of the outside of the Colosseum (the Italian guide was really funny and certainly knew his stuff. Memorable quotes of the day...'Con-TI-ki' and 'Follow the guide' ). Our tour guide then walked through the ruins of the Forum where Caesar used to address his people. After that, they day was ours, so ...

DAY 10 - Florence to Vatican City and Rome, Italy

DAY 10 - Florence to Vatican City & Rome, Italy Today we travelled into Vatican City and literally RAN to Saint Peter's Cathedral because Louis told us that the Pope would be out to do a public blessing, but when we got there, we were about 20 minutes late, bummer  Louis then advised us to infiltrate the INSANE que at the Vatican City and Sistine Chapel, otherwise we wouldn't have time to see it and would miss out. We all had to split up so we didn't look like a tour group and ...

When In Rome...

... cities you can see in a day. Although we saw some amazing things and I really enjoyed Rome, I didn't have the best day. Our tour guide was pretty ****** and way to quiet. We basically had to ask him for explanations on everything we were seeing because he just wouldn't say a word until we said something. And my family was annoying me a lot that day too. They have a hard time relaxing and every single move our tour guide made resulted in ...
