          Happy Halloween!!

I actually forgot until I went out to dinner tonight and saw all the cute kids dressed up. From what I was told, Halloween isn't a bit deal in France but from what I see, it sure seems to be a major holiday.

Today I was in Lille, France which no one has heard of and yet, it’s a giant city. Its center reminded me a lot of Ashland where it has great little shops, neat stone ...

We drove the path from Hensies to Crespin, through Saint Armand and had a nice lunch with noodle soup and the last apples. Having gone to France on a simple day trip it really became noticeable just how different France is to England, despite it being just an hour's ferry away! And don't even get me started on the stinky cheese! My clothes stank of it all day!

... La Villa Aramis, which I assumed from the web photo was a villa set within gardens, however it is set on a street front in the town and has no garden of its own, and the gardens in the photo are a park over the road. I'm not sure the photo accurately represented the accommodation.

When we arrived in Lille it was raining steadily and we caught a taxi the 2km to the villa. It's continued to rain, so I guess we won't see much of Lille before we ...

... in Ieper, and showed us where significant events occurred. There is even a pub which we liken to the Rene’ of ‘Allo ‘Allo fame – where British airmen were taken there by the resistance fighters, right under the noses of the German Officers drinking and cavorting in the bars. They ‘kitted out’ the airmen, put them in a room upstairs and when they were ready to leave, sent them out through ...
