    ... something that hurt. I kept going, thinking it was a sharp rock, then the woman next to me told me I must put on my shoes. That seemed like good advice, so I did, but it was too late. I had cut my foot but didn't see it till I was out of the water.

    There was no point getting into togs - the water was so shallow that paddling was as effective as trying to swim, and it was a little murky too. Who knows what was in there, but I'm sure I wasn't the only one ...

    It is actually quite easy to go to Macau from Hong Kong, you can take flight or use your private helicopter but today we were not in a real hurry so we took the high speed boat (hydrofoil), which covers the distance in about an hour.
