Estepona is a beach resort

Our hotel is amazing--thanks alex!!! Kristi and I had dinner at an argentinian restaurant (antonio banderas brother owns it...or atleast his twin!!) yesterday and today we lounged at the pool...had massages, mani-pedis and swam around this super cool hyrdotherapy pool that is the size of the full outdoor one and there are all these fountains and whirlpool spots for different parts of your body to massage and relax and they have all these other spa areas..like a path with stones you walk acros...

Meeting my new family

... all worth it.

The shuttle took us to the airport where we met up with 13 more overlanders. The couple from chili, Craig, Kati, Dan, Sarah, Gavin, Peter, Myumi, Dan H., ect. Then there was the most amazing European discount airlines ever and guess where my seat was? THE LAST ROW, there is already about half the normal leg room compared to a normal American airlines. Man 2.5 hours worth of hell with this weird guy who could not stop fidgeting to ...

Where the Bullfight Was Born

This is by far the most beautiful city I have visited in Spain! Ronda is where the first bullfight took place and is home to the oldest bullring in Spain. The other students and I started out the day listening to one of our professors give a speech about the history of bullfighting, very interesting but after three hours I was ready to see Ronda. We then went to the bullring and had the opportunity to go inside where the fights take place. It was a feeling like no ...

Arrival in Andalusia

It was a relatively smooth flight but got quite bumpy near the end. Worse, as were sent into a holding pattern, I began to feel nauseated. It was awful, especially as it became clear that I wasn't going to be able to fight this one off. Vomited (into a barf bag - a first, for me) several times, then, once we had wheels down, I called the flight attendant for help. She moved me into the head for the duration - gave me cold compresses - and, as I deplaned, handed me ...

The Rock of Gibraltar

... want to move; he is 27 years old and is no longer the dominant monkey. We got in the van and drove up even higher to the highest point on the vehicle road and got out. Again I had trouble with vertigo and couldn't go up the flight of stairs that would have given me views to both sides, but we did take some pictures and then got back in the van. I still can't believe that they hauled cannon up the Rock (we did see the iron rings set in the rock ...

Monkeying around

Nathan says: After enjoying 3 weeks of mildly fresh but mostly clear Spanish days, we decided to take a trip to Gibraltar, seeing as it was only a little over an hour away by car. Don't ask me to explain how this works, but from the moment we left for British territory, it was as if the skies knew where we were going, and put on a figid, rainy day that would have done London proud. At first sight of it, it looked very intimidating indeed, and the liitle history ...

A Fair Awakening

Today i awaken to a beautiful sunrise over the bay. On a clear day you can see the Rock of Gibraltar and if it is a very fine day even a glimpse of Africa can be caught! I spent the morning having a refreshing swim to be followed by a delightful lunch. The tomatoes here are delicious, large and juicy a lot different from the ones available at home. In the afternoon I took a ...

At about this time, I noticed that a few of the many swirling seagulls overhead began shrieking. I kept walking thinking hmmm, thatºs odd. Then every minute or so, one would come dive bombing down towards me, maybe getting to 5 or so feet above my head. Obviously I was starting to freak out... and I ...
