        ... a U-turn and headed back. Truly it is hard to describe the scenery in this part of the world, no amount of photos do it justice. And simply having a car and driving anywhere in this area was such a fabulous experience.

        Well the walk was mountainous (not surprisingly) and even a twisted ankle didn't dampen memories of crystal clear, dark blue lakes set in a backdrop of rugged mountains.

        ... in a hotel, as there are no Alburgues open. Eat at the late hour of 8:30, the norm in Spain & then rest the night away! Did not plan well today, as I didn't have enough food for fuel and the villages were mostly quiet for the season. Many of these villages will become bustling during the winter ski season.         Our hosts took took us to their favourite restaurant for lunch.         The weather today (Nov4th) is wet so we have stayed two nights in Lourdes, a town which leaves us cold, metaphorically speaking. Tomorrow we head to Bruce in Berson, and then St Malo for the ferry to Portsmouth, the following day, about 800 kms all up. The temperature was 4 degrees today.
