Agava Opatija

... balcony overlooking the ocean which was really rough today. Got relaxed as Ian will not let me do anything I have to stay in bed all the time which is ok really as I dont feel that good and my eye does not look pretty enough to go out with. Did pop out and buy some tights though as the weather is now taking a turn for the colder both Ian and I were discussing going to Egypt as its warm ha ha but not really up for flying at the ...

So we drive down to Croatia. We thought it would be a great idea to wear our bikins as we drive so we get tanned... brilliant plan... that was until we got to the border and thought, whoops. Luckliy there was a car in front and we quickly put clothes on. In my haste I put my dress on back to front and inside out.... The guy then asked if we had anything to declare and was in hysterics when we laughed and said only 3 beers ...

... cyclable, qui devient un chemin, qui devient un sentier... jusqu'à ce qu'on perde sa trace! Nous continuons à l'aveuglette en suivant le littoral. L'eau turquoise nous attire comme un aimant, nous devons nous arrêtez pour piquer une tête!

En Croatie, maillots de bain, chaussures d'eau et masques sont nécessaires pour vaincre les rochers ...

Cres (prononcé "tsresse") est moins touristique que les autres îles du golf de Kvarner et c'est ce qui nous a tout de suite plu. Son petit port tranquille et son centre-ville pavé nous ont conquis!
Cette étape marque également le début de notre 1ère prospection "sobe" (chambre chez l'habitant).

... nous sommes en fait à 10 kilomètres de Opatija et que la ligne de bus ne passe pas du tout par là. Finalement, nous rejoignons le centre ville par un chemion caché située de l'autre côté des rails et nous nous rendons à l'office de tourisme pour nous renseigner.

Après avoir rejoins Rijeka en bus local, nous fêtons nos premièrs instants en Croatie autour d'une bière ...

Still at the lake this morning, filling up the water, having a quick breakfast, taking last pics of this lovely place and bye. We are off to the Snežnik castle, check the pics.

Sorry, too dark for any good pictures, but here are a few attempts. This place is HUGE, with awesome, massive caverns that blow your mind, very impressive and interesting. The remains of the original internal stairs are visible in many spots, built by the original explorers ...

... they do after a swim is to change into a dry swimming costume. This is something that Annie had to do as a child but, only today did she understand why!

Sunbathing over for the day we went for a walk along the promenade and found the local yacht club which had a terrace still bathed in sunshine so we sat there and had a cold beer while watching the sun go down and the locals go about their boating business.

... book it in for us. Next was the Christmas dinner venue. I asked at the Tourist Information while Jess went and took care of Priority 1. The lady there suggested a couple of places and we checked them both out as we walked around the town. I thought that The Bevanda on the waterfront would be an excellent venue - at least I hoped it would be. We all had a couple of last minute things to buy, and we also needed to go to the supermarket ...

... a local hot spot for lunch.. A healthy walk from down town was well worth the trip. A fresh fish cart was brought to us and typical of lunch with the group, we picked one of each, and one or two for the table. An assortment of wonderful fish, fine wines, great pasta, the faboulous after dinner drink "Croatian Creation" and lots of laughs finished lunch, and " The Group" for the day.
