Afroditi Hotel Ios

this trip was very special to me,because it was the first one after I finally finished with school and had the freedom to do everything I want,without anybody else controlling me!the only thing I wanted to do is find a nice place with great people to relax and so I did.i met many interesting people and it was a journey to remember!

Well, a very enjoyable last night in Santorini. had dinner at a lovely restaurant overlooking the sunset strip. Pity it wasn't the clearest of nights but still spectacular.
Dinner consisted of grilled pork with pureed red pepper and potatoes with cheese and Souvlaki Lamb with baked potato.
A 5.00 am start got us on to the flight to Athens then Rome.

After a sleep in we wandered into town to choose a suitable location for our anniversary dinner tonight (21 years!).
As usual we just had to take more photos ~ don't worry, after a few more tonight this will be all of Santorini.
Next, Italy where the forecast is 0 to 14 degrees. BRR BRR

... After an hour or so walking over the lava flows we motored on to some hot springs where hardier folk than us braved an icy plunge into the sea to reach the warm springs.(Hey we're used to tropical waters!)
Soon we moored at Thirasia Island for a couple of hours for lunch and Mythos at waterfront tavernas which are still much as they were 50 years ago.
Tomorrow is our last day here so we are making the most of the sun, as the forecast for Italy is bloody freezing

... a cappuccino overlooking the sea and the cruise ships below and then headed onto Kamari beach. The beach has black sandand the little village is a very cool. There are restaurants and bars all along the water. We stopped and had a bite to eat- Steve had gyros (pita bread with lamb and tzatziki) and I had chicken souvlaki. Then I went for a quick swim. ... it off, the rooms are like a sauna. NEVER STAY HERE. Spend the extra money on Far Out Club!!! I stayed in all different accommodation over my trip and this was easily the worst.
Here was did pretty much exactly the same as Mykonos, plus we watched a few nighttime movies in our accommodation on the outdoor screen, had barbecue meals, saw the world rap champions, has a fire and drinks on the beach. We hired boats one day and went trekking around the Island ...

... began following these man-made stone walls meant to show boundaries for grazing sheep. Indeed, we past much evidence of sheep (dung) and little stone huts for shepherds to camp in as we climbed up. We walked along the tops of the stone walls for about an hour until there were no more walls to follow and then we started up the huge boulders towards the peak. ... in the morning though, all i seem to be doing is sleeping. Probably due to my lack of nutrition. but dont pass judgement yet though parents, just wait till the end of the story. So Friday meant heading back to Athens. Which was probably another reason i didnt want to get out of bed. Because its still the shoulder season they dont have all the ferries running yet, but we were lucky as we were the first group to get the highspeed ferry, which was 3 hours apposed to 7 - 12 hours ...

... where on earth the so called famous nightlife was! All we could find was a sports bar filled with a whole lot of drunk Aussies! Can find that anywhere back home! Somebody suggested that we follow the people and crossing over the Piazza and past the very beautiful Monastery of St. John (Ag Loannis) we soon found ourselves venturing up the brightly lit white steps of Chora, through numerous alleyways and past tempting boutiques until suddenly we arrive ...

Since everything is always pretty much all the same day in and day out, here's a look into what my days consist of in Ios. I wake up, some time around 11 or 12 usually, stuffed up and hacking out a lung, thanks to the "Ios cough" that just about the whole island has thanks to the fact that most everybody has a **** diet (thanks to a job at a restaurant I eat fairly well), drinks all day and all night and then hooks up with each other.
