... who has had the flu for the last week. They seem to come in for simple things but the doctor and a lot of the med students seem to try to assume more serious things... I don't know if this is because more serious sicknesses are more likely to occur or because they just have to rule out all possibilities but anyway! It was really sad with the first patient especially because the med student and the doctor were encouraging the woman to get an HIV test (which they have to do ...

... Garbage is everywhere and the homes are built tightly together over piles of mud and water. While it is terribly sad to see young children picking through garbage and see women getting water out of the ditch, for some reason it was not that shocking to me. Perhaps it hasn't completely settled in yet. Regardless, it is a sad place to see. At Lotus Park, we visited a creche (daycare for the children in the settlement). I will post pictures ...
The start of it all!
... we deserved it more than the hordes of tourists alighting from the cable car. Taking the cable car down was “just for the view”, honest, although Claire didn’t seem to be much of a fan of travel in a small bubble suspended from a wire buffeted about in the strong breeze!
1 more day in Cape Town, then it’s off to Namibia and our waiting truck!

Sea, Mountains and expanse of blue sky! Bliss!
... and a call to the landlord sorted it out with the purchase of more electricity. Cape Town is only two hours ahead of the U.K. so it was easy to drop off to sleep and sleep like a log.
Now the next morning I made a slow start ( I'm on holiday after all!) and having breakfast outside in the sunshine was a treat.House dogs Thandi and three legged Lucy are a bonus for me. However-it soon dawned on me that we have to take the next few days ...
