... had been to go via Pisa so I could see the leaning tower today, but with all the travelling we had done so far, and Louis had already seen it, we decided just to go straight to Cinque Terre and enjoy the afternoon their instead.

We made it here easily, we had chosen to stay in Riomaggiore, which is the first town the train comes to of the 5 towns along this coast line. How you would chose which town was best without staying here first I have no idea, but ...

... a bridge, through a tunnel, over another bridge and then you will see the path on your right. Too easy!

The morning heat is comfortable but we are certain we are in for another very hot day.

There really wasn’t a footpath along the road and a very small path along the bridge where Peter skinned his arm. Check out the picture – he has left his DNA in Liguria OUCH!

Alive at first light, always a good sign. Backpack on but only for a short time we hope. Wander around the main piazza of Vernazza and then catch the train to town number 1 - Riomaggiore, then go through the horse trading game of room finding. Took a ferry direct to Riomaggiore where we bought a few breads for breakfast from the bakery and ate as we explored the town.

Looked around and visited the town church. Stopped and admired the 'v' shape view of the sea

Walked Via del amore for 25 mins and stopped at the bar midway to eat ice cream with the breathtaking sea veiw below us

Monterosso and Vernazza

... It was big but boy was it lovely! Karyn had stuffed mussels, followed by this mouthwatering pannacotta with fresh fruits that we hadn’t even heard about….just devine. As full as I was after the fish, I had to steal a spoonful or two of Karyn’s dessert!

We then “rolled” on down the hill to the train station to catch the ever reliable train back to Riomaggiore and walk back up the hill towards home!

Another successful day ...
