Today was a public holiday (see yesterday's entry) and everything was closed except the cafés which were doing a great business. The sun was out for a lot of the day too.

The school kids were out in force again with their marching and drumming and having a great time. There were priests and lots of dignataries laying wreaths and then more marching and drumming through the lined streets. It was quite moving to see.

i walked home along the beach, which was really nice. The wind has stopped now and the sea is flat and glassy with the turquoise and shades of blue making it look amazing. ... got us into a circle and taught us some Greek dancing which was so much fun. Then they brought out piles of plates and we smashed all of them by throwing them straight onto the concrete dance floor!
