My first encounter with Mexicans was several hours before I reached Mexico city, as I was sat next to two of them on the plane.Well, one Mexican and one Indian who lives here. They seemed nice at first and I could actually understand what they were going on about in Spanish. Just as we took off, the overhead locker burst open and my shoe fell out onto my head, and one of them tried to leap out of his seat to close it. Nice guy. Unfortunately as soon as we were in the air, they proceeded ...
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico lizzyletloose... zombie getup, the day before halloween (see below). Sometimes a little public embarrassment can be good for the self-confidence.

Stay tuned for adventures from Tixla, the second leg of our weekend trip and the town where Kisiev was born, in the second installment. A quick preview: first encounters with Mescal, dancing demons, little vampiros, marching bands, a street fight, and an encounter with a man known only as "I`m from Texas baby!" Johnny.

Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico annoiatissima... of people winding through the rapidly moving line to get inside. So why not find out. It turned out to be a temporary history muesum of sorts, all about dinosaurs. In one of the last rooms, they even had life-size skeletons of approximately one dozen different dinosaurs. (No indication if they were real or replicas, although the rest of the exhibit related to areas in Mexico where they were found and how they were excavated ...
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico flitterjahr... just clogging up with ****. Though guess one cannot expect too much when you're traveling on a shoestring. At 9am, we were picked up by our tour guide for the day, Lambrico. We'd booked ourselves onto a tour to Teotihuacan, with a couple of other stops along the way, with the first stop being Tlatelolco. Here we were guided through the Aztec pyramids and the Spanish Temple de Santiago. We got a full run through of all of the histories but for me the most interesting ...
Mexico City, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico vermaakjeanne... using the same knife for raw and cooked meat and the veg, then placing it down a pipe to hold it up which I cannot see in anyway, how the pipe got cleaned....... Despite the food being really good I did wonder if it would end up being not so good an idea and unfortunately I was right! That night for me was spent on the loo with not a lot of sleep as the very loud Friday night Mexican city came alive keeping everyone and anything awake till the very early hours...
Teotihuacan, Mexico nikandads2008... tactics that we've encountered in Mexico on subways and buses. On buses, people will get on and hand out what they're selling (gum, candy, herbal remedy, etc) to everyone on the bus (or as many people as they can get to hold it). Afterwards they will simply walk around to everyone and take their product back (or money for it if their sale was a success). But if you're lucky, they will give you their sales pitch for 2 minutes. My spanish isn't good at all, but I'm ...

Mexico City, Mexico cinema4... visit all the sights of Mexico in a few hours. She takes a photo from the top then shes off again in the direction of the waiting buses. After several hours at the site I headed to the Anthropology Museum back in the city. Its one of those huge world class museums that needs a whole day to do it justice. I spent several hours learning about the Maya, Aztec and other cultures of the region. Wish I had more time.
