... the gas stations only take cash. Needless to say, it took us a while (and a lunch under a glorious plane tree in Filoti, where we also witnessed the emotional start of a Greek funeral) to get the cash and gas in the car to be free to go anywhere (Naxos is a big island, and going somewhere on a quarter tank is not a good idea: gas stations do not abound). When we finally DID, we headed to the south end of the island, to a remote beach called Kalados.
