NYE Celebrations, Australia Zoo & Wreck Diving!
... the road we’d reached the Mecca of Mooloolaba. Shops, cafés, restaurants, small supermarkets and bars line the front overlooking the large and clean beach. Perfect. As we walked along the pretty coastal path we came across a memorial to the ‘HMAS Brisbane,’ an 8-story high purposely sunk ship…a.k.a. a divers paradise! Obviously this was a must see, with only one dive in Oz under my belt I was more than keen to dive this 133-metre-long destroyer ...
Een nomadentocht langs de eastcoast
... de 70 +ers en een groep conservatoriumstudenten naar een lokale big band te luisteren die kerstliedjes speelde! Echt een leuke avond gehad!
Inmiddels zijn we op de een na laatste stop voor we Ton en Kora in Melbourne gaan ontmoeten, namelijk de Snowy Mountains! Gelukkig zijn ze op dit moment nog niet zo snowy en als het goed is vol wilde zomerbloemen! Dus morgen gaan we maar eens de hoogste berg van Australië beklimmen!

Catching up with everyone!!!
... in Brisbane to go to and then did a quick bit of Christmas shopping without the kids. The next day was our beautiful girls birthday so after opening presents we met up with our friends the Hardy's at Australia Zoo. We had a great day looking at all the animals and enjoying the extra activities as it was also young Robert Irwin's birthday so they had extra stuff on. The rain started at around 2 o'clock so from then on we got a bit wet but it was great fun nevertheless. ...
ZOOloolaba!
... down the road and it only took about 20min to get there, there was even a Steve Irwin DVD on the bus to watch on the way. We had heard about the new Africa area which was supposed to be really good so we headed there on the special shuttle bus. To be honest we weren't that impressed by this as it was just a large grassy enclousure with 3 giraffes, 2 rinos and 3 zebras (no cheetas even though they were in the booklet!), so we didn't stay up there very long ...
Australia or Holland?
... and I slowly got better at my golf drive :P We also went to a couple of movies (Friends With Benefits- awesome- so funny, and Conan The Barbarian- not so awesome but in 3D) Colleen and I were introduced to some choice Dutch phrases, many of which I cannot repeat here :P
On Sunday I left to go to Stradbroke Island and Niek went north a bit to go Wwoofing, and Tim went to Melbourne for a few months, and hopefully we are going to meet up somewhere else along the way.
