WE took advantage of the One Penny (£0.01) flights from Ryanair to go somewhere we have never been so went to Germany the airport is Frankfurt Hahn which although is it's correct name it is cinfusing to strangers as it is nowhere near the OTHER Frankfurt (about 120km by road). We stayed at the Advance hotel zum Hahn which is in Büchenbeuren
After a rough night of sleeplessness, we woke up to beautiful sunshine. Took our time getting ready, and left the house around noon. The sun was still out, but it was chilly, coldest day so far. Took the underground to the main station, then a train to Bingen, switched there, and jumped on another train to Bacharach. It's a really pretty, tiny, town on the Rhine. After a short nap, we're getting good naps, we woke to pouring ...
... read the menu as best she could in English and finally recommended the beef steak in cognac with potatoes...she actually kissed her fingers and held them to heaven like the Italians do! That was enough for us, we all ate that for dinner!

Budget hotel offers room only with breakfast as an add on option. The hotel also offers free transfers from Hahn airport. Rooms are clean and bright ours had twin beds and en-suite shower, and a large drinks fridge.
Alcoholic drinks are available from reception at reasonable prices but even cheaper from the supermarket around the corner. Tea and coffe are freely available in the breakfast room all day
A useful place to sleep if you are a Ryanair traveller who use the old USAF base at Hahn as a eurohub
