Mittelweg 7 Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany, 38106
Today we took the S-Bahn to the University and I showed her where I go to class and where my institute is. Then we took the scenic walk back to the Altstadt, through the parks and along the river. We got supplies for the feast and headed back to Weststadt to help out. Surprisingly everything turned out ok. We played basketball and football before everything was finished ...
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepWe headed to the Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to get tickets back to Braunshweig. We stopped in Hannover for 1 hour and we quickly walked through some of the shopping section. We were tired when we finally arrived so we hung out in my room for a while just relaxing. We hung out with all of the URI students in Weststadt and it was a lot of fun.
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... Peas, Robbie Williams, Lady Gaga, a famous violinist, the youngest F1 champion who drove his car inside the hall and did a few doughnuts, John Cusack, and a famous director. The first contestant was a physics major and he could read a sentence that was repeated over and over on a rolling piece of paper spinning very fast (100 km/h I think?). He got 2 ot of the 3 sentences correct. Another guy used a backhoe to shoot baskets!! He was amazing. A trained guy in the sport of ...
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... costume stores in Germany since Halloween isn't really a big event here.
Wendy and I also explored for the Staples on the Ring but it was a disappointment, we were hoping it would look exactly like it does at home. Oh well.
When I got back I went to the Michaelishof area for Denise's handball game with Soth and Shawn. Denise is Soth's German International Partnering Projekt (IPP ...
... some fun. We wrote our names down on index cards and then we were put on random teams for 15 mintue games. All the players on each winning team got a shinny ribbon and whoever collected the most ribbons won a prize. We didn't realize that the tournament lasted from 8:30pm -6am!!! So we left around 11. It was a lot of fun, but some of the Germans were very intense and I had no idea what they were telling me to do sometimes!
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiep... there was a short breakfast and then Wendy and I went to go pick up our Visa's. We are now officially allowed to be in Germany for 1 year! We hung around Friday night and baked wurst in onions, cauliflower and peppers and also made mashed potatoes, it was amazing!!
Braunschweig, Lower Saxony, Germany plcouttsiepFun trip to VW plant in Wolfsburg. We took the Deutschen Bahn at the Hauptbahnhof for free since we are students. It was a short trip, only 25 minutes to the plant which is next to a canal for transportation purposes. We got a fantastic tour of the plant in cool cars that made it feel like an amusement park ride.
Our tour guide was from Nottingham which was funny. We got to see the entire ...
... There are over 50 different ingredients that have not changed from the original recipe that was invented way back when by a woodsman. The lower levels smelled like licorice that was so strong, it was amazing! There were 10,000 liter containers that hold the maturing Jager base (12 months!) then it gets mixed with everything else.
Then we walked to the ...
Braunschwein, 30-07-2007.
Braunschwein, a fitting name considering all the wild boar I have seen these last couple of days, whole brownish colored families of wild boar foraging in the left-overs of maiz harvested fields, totally unperturbed while I got off my bike on numerous occasions for sketching purposes. Huge flocks of forset sparrows landing on wild pork backs, searching the hairy raw hide for nutricious tics, releaving their hosts ...
... Ingebord Bachmann and her short story "The Barking." the discussion was quite interesting as most of the class did not read the story. well, class was more laid back than usual as 5 people left at 10 so they could catch their plane flight to Rome. Soon after they left, Frau Muelsch let us out of class. Our last class day is next Tuesday. i ate lunch in the Mensa before picking up my bags at the ...
