... were at Col de Marmare when we got there, and they caught up to us at Col de Chioula when we were delayed by a blow-out on Linda's front tire which thankfully happened when we were stopped. There was a small cut in the front tire sidewall; Dave patched it with a boot and we continued on.

Near Ax-les-Thermes there was some serious road construction right at the start of the climb to Col de Pailheres but no closure; we got right through. Very soon after that we ...

... but that isn't too bad, a grazed shin and a very poorly toe. My foot is so swollen that I can only get my lightest sandals on and my toe is a lovely blue colour. I was a bit concerned that I might not be able to drive but after a good nights sleep, helped by gin and some pain killers I didn't feel too bad. ... something that sounded fine -has a kitchen! - and we continued to plot towards there.

Thought we'd be in the foothills. No way Josť - it was IN the Pyrenees! Spent the day mostly between 1300M and 2000M - that's in the air and dizzying made more so by endless switchbacks up and down the mountains! Twisting like we haven't twisted and I have no idea how many tunnels through the mountains but man oh man it was scenery ...

Town in the Pyrenees. A spa town. Very nice town but Aire run down but good location. Why? Well I wanted to ride a Col on the Pyrenees, Clive wants to stay local so we head for what looks like a good spot ready for a nice long ride tomorrow and I will tag on another Col at the end. Right! Well best laid plans and all that. The town is very nice but the Aire is not. In fact The local Maire has posted up, all sorts of notices demanding that we stay in our Camping-Car. ...
