... the col. A couple quick photos later and we were on our way down.

It was quite a descent. First, right near the top was a small uphill that none of us pedalled over since we got enough momentum from the downhill just before it to carry us over--that was cool! Then after that there were relatively steep sections with tight switchbacks alternating with longer straight runs. This would definitely be the more difficult direction to climb from.

... and in the tree next to my motorhome is a nest with four young thrushes. In the distance a cuckoo is calling and if I look up I can see the snow clad mountains. The icing on the cake is that it is even warm enough to sit outside in shorts. So I am thoroughly content. Luckily we were able to find a place that rented lockers, to ease the pain off our back. Once we were there we took a city tour bus, which I would definitely recommend to anyone. It was so handy, it was a "hop on, hop off" type of bus. They dropped you off at a point of interest after describing it ...

... something that sounded fine -has a kitchen! - and we continued to plot towards there.

Thought we'd be in the foothills. No way Josť - it was IN the Pyrenees! Spent the day mostly between 1300M and 2000M - that's in the air and dizzying made more so by endless switchbacks up and down the mountains! Twisting like we haven't twisted and I have no idea how many tunnels through the mountains but man oh man it was scenery ...

... coming in. The wind is already up to 17mph and the temp is dropping rapidly so we decide to head inland once more. Bye bye Pyrenees, but not before I climb the mini Col beside the Camping-Car Aire. Straight up to 1,125 metres or in English 3,690 ft. It was a great idea at the time. Casteil and the road to it was lovely. I should have turned back then but needing a blow out I continue up the ever deteriorating road to the Col De Jou. Mad idea, all I saw was ...
