... next to nothing. I think it cost us about 10 euro return for the two of us to get there, and the boat tours were asking about 100 euro each!

We left our accommodation with plenty of time to make it to the boat as we weren’t sure where to by the tickets. After going into one wrong building we found the right place and we were all organised.

The ride out to the island was a great way to start the day, the sun was out, the sky was clear and the water looked amazing ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia kimmykak... rather thick Bosnian coffee under Mostar bridge, a beautiful 24m stone bridge, that is unashamedly the town centrepiece,. For 25 euro, you can jump off the bridge and grab your slice of heroism. Proudy and I weren’t game but Bordo, a bull rider from Orange, accepted the challenge and launched himself off the edge. I have the video to prove it and it was pretty cool. We spent the afternoon walking around the town, astonished at the amount of ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia bradskey69... over 50 percent of the town, but it was never taken. The government has made a point of rebuilding the place exactly as it was. The locals are very proud and very friendly people, if you are still local after a civil war than you have every right to be proud. There is still evidence of the war some buildings still bear the scares, but not many.

On this coastline with the sun shinning it is very easy to take for ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia dinoshona... I was again with my art class. We saw the Sponza Palace, the Jesuit Church of St. Ignatius, and the Church of St. Blais and discussed their art and architecture. It's cool, I'm getting pretty good at determining the time period and style of certain architectures. The academic portion ended and 12PM, and we had the whole day to relax in Dubrovnik before our ferry to Italy at 11PM. We ate lunch and then went to one of the cliff areas on the sea. Many of my ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia kelly128We departed Korcula after breakfast en route for Dubrovnik. The scenery along the way was so picturesque. Island after island of greenery & cliff faces jutting into the deep blue Adriatic. One tiny island had us wondering in amazement at the sight of a small lighthouse perched high on the side of a rocky cliff face of the island. How did they manage to build it? They must have had to transport the ...
Korcula Town, Croatia bentam... it is an old cable car that was blown to pieces in the war. That would have made for an easier walk up the mountain that was for sure. We got to the top and there was no Jesus waiting for us with an ice cream cone like we had envishioned. It was too bad but the views from the top of that mountain were spectacular and it was another sunny day so it was perfect for a nice long walk. We then headed back into the old town of Dubrovnik. We wandered around the city and eventually ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia beautiful_freak... everyone so I'll just start planning for another trip since the planning before this one certainly helped a great deal. I took the ferry to Lokrum and set up my stuff on the rocks before jumping in. Some people thought the water was cold but I thought it felt great, especially with the high temperatures. Immediately I saw schools and schools of pretty, small fish. I'm sure Mike and Gary would know what types of fish I was seeing, but I had no clue. I just knew they looked ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia rnriggins... our table. I stand up and assume a position, or stance as it is called when actually about to fight. Oddly enough he seems very surprised by my reaction and freezes in his tracks. I scream "Get the expletive outta here!!!!" At the exact point I realize that our last encounter has completely slipped his mind, our waiter spots the situation and quickly and politely tells the man in his native tongue that there is ...
Split, Croatia tracybenOn our way to Dubrovnik, Croatia, drove through Montenegro (obliviously, were not going to swim there). Montenegro is the newest country to date. Officially, 5 weeks ago, all Montenegrins voted and the country separated from Siberia. It is absolutely breathtaking, a wonderful sight, stunning...I am now dead set on heading back to Eastern Europe. We then arrived in Croatia after another long ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia lalalaura... uncomfortable. So, we just said we weren't taking it and left. Then it started to rain. Whe still had no place to stay, so we were looking around and trying to get down to the lower part of town. Unfortunately for us, the roads which are actually stairs are not distinguished on some maps of Dubrovnik. This is important, since, although bikes can go down stairs, this doesn't mean that they should, at least not unless you're good at it. We ...
