... than a palace, this ground plan of roughly 30,000 sq meters is the center of Splits sights, restaurants, bars, and hotels. It's old, I'm talking 305 AD old! It was first built by the Romanian emperor Diocletian as a place of retirement, but has had an extensive history through the last 1700 years, obviously. ... NSW, so we chatted to them for a while.  It was strange to hear so many Aussie accents in one spot. We decided that we were glad we were the only Australians on our tour and that we were with other nationalities. ... saw lots of old Roman Ruins. The streets were cobbled stoned. We saw the statue of Gregory of Nin, I called it the Wizard of Oz. I rubbed his toe which is meant to bring you good luck. You can see that a lot of people rub his toe because it was very worn and shiny. We also saw a man dressed up as a Roman Soldier.
