As well the Christmas Market was in town so we went to look round there. Some of the things they had round there were brilliant. Especially the spicy drinks!! But then we had to move on for ou...

Ausserbinn, Switzerland lesterenanneI am only stayin the night just to see the Matterhorn. The sun is out and I took a hike up nearby hill. It was about an hour and a half uphill walk with regular short stops to catch my breath. I think I have had enough of hiking now, I did 4 hours of it at Montreux as well, I must have the best **** at the moment. Spectacular view of the mountain at the hilltop though. It's less of a mountain and more of a giant pinnacle of rock. It looks menacing, to prove it there is a nearby graveyard full ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland tonkin... but our legs struggled to keep us upright on the steep slope. I know uphill is harder but my legs were shaking 10 minutes in!

At the bottom we saw that there were two signs pointing to the spot we needed to be, obviously one was right and one was wrong! The right one had a very level path that we welcomed with relief!

We walked for about 2 hours before lunch, viewing the Matterhorn from different angles and stopping at lakes and streams to fill our water ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kimmykak... a big drop) and took off! It was exciting for me to see them take off ... and according to Tom the take off was the best bit. They spent around 45 minutes floating through thermals and gradually descending to Zermatt. Tom flet a little airsick towards the end, as the thermals give height... but also give turbulence. In the meantime I wandered around the summit for a while and took yet more photos and then went down and met Tom at Furi.

We walked back to Zermatt again but this ...
Zermatt, Switzerland t-l-cWe woke "late" (8am) and were the last to leave our bunk. Skipping breakfast, we began our 5 hour journey back to Zermatt. We chose a route that would give us a different view of the valley, but involved 1800m of decent. We paid for it for the next few days. We arrived at our apartment and ...
Zermatt, Swiss Alps, Switzerland kramertown... not worth it. We have a shower at the campground and then move over to the underground parking at the train station for the night.

We go to the café/store and pick out a sweet and sour dinner and she warms it up for us. We sit at the tables and eat and then work on the computer. No Wi-fi here.

The night was warm and quiet. The lights are on a sensor and shut off after awhile so it is quite dark. Great day, we hiked in the Swiss Alps!

Zermatt, Switzerland jv3117... push in, they overtake, they park anywhere and they complain like no end when it does not go there way!!! Anyway enough Italian bashing.... Bergamo was nice and we went our separate ways to explore the area... this involved for Gem taking in the shops and the fashion (lucky most of them were closed for siesta) and for Wayne finding a restaurant recommended by Lonley planet so he could pork out on the area speciality of Polenta and Rabbet .. and of course a craft of red wine. This ...
