This morning we said goodbye to the last of the group, everyone catching flights to different places or going home and ate breakfast on the rooftop. Gemma and I went to go and see the Acropolis. By the time we had finally found the entrance I decided it wasn't worth hundreds of steps in the blistering heat and Gemma decided to go without me so I waited by the entrance.

Today the ship was going to Katakolon (Greece) which is near Olympia where the old Olympic Games were held. We got off the boat a bit before lunch time and walked into the Main Street where we caught a taxi to Olympia. It was a long night for me and by the time I crashed, the hooter was going to wake the truckers up as we were approaching the Northern port of Igoumenista in Greece. That was at 4.45am.
I managed to get a couple of hours sleep as most of the truckers had left at the last port so the ...

... book it mentions a rack and pinion railway that goes into the mountain gorge closeby to Patras. Steve was sorting out the engine possibilities so I went to find out about the railway. Next morning at 6.30am I was on my way to the bus stop about 1 km away. After some confusion as to which bus I should get on, and helped by several local Greeks, a young girl sitting in the bus spoke to me and said "if you want the train into the gorge this man sitting next to me ...
