Back to London

... to see the sun rise over the Irish Sea...but I think i would have appreciated the sleep more!

It was off the boat at Liverpool, where I had 3 1/2 hours to get to the bus station. It took me about 45 minutes to get there (including a stop for a cornish pasty for breakfast) but i was so knackered that I couldn't be ***** looking around, so I just killed the time in the bus station. 5 1/2 hours on the bus, then about 50 minutes on the tube and I was back home!

It must bring a massive amount of money into the economy each year, and there are also other similar events such as the Manx Grand Prix, which is also very popular with the bikers around Europe.

I walked up to the pits around lunchtime for a bit of a look around, then it was back down to the waterfront to walk across to the main bus station where I hopped on a bus to Port Erin. Later on in the evening it was reported that both the driver and passenger had been airlifted to hospital, and that both had sustained multiple broken bones, and were both in a pretty serious condition. Over to Ramsey for my first day of racing.

This morning I caught the bus to Ramsey, to watch the racing. The double decker went along a scenic drive, with some great views out over the coast, and through Laxey; home of the worlds largest functioning water wheel.

In Ramsey I made my way to Parliament Square...who's name was a tad confusing as I didn't see anything resembling parliament or a square...
The corner I watched the ...

Dy bannee diu from the Isle of Man!

Today it was over to the Isle of Man for the Tourist Trophy races, something which I've wanted to go to for a long time.

I began with an early-ish morning, then beginning the drive up to Heysham, a bit north of Liverpool, where I was to catch the Ferry. A bleak winter's evening in Douglas

Hello readers. I'm Tom, and this is my travel blog. At the moment, I am an A-level student, in my final year of study. I have applied to university, but I've decided it'd be better for me to take a year out. So thats what I'm planning for the next year of my life, to travel to various countries and continents, embarking on mostly voluntary work. Alongside my studies, I am an athlete, competing over 800m. Through this sport, I have ...

Isle of Man - my new home away from home

... of her friends and family. I discovered that Manx people are extremely friendly - and quite as superstitious! Not only do all the regular superstitions apply, but you must also thank the ferries when you drive over their bridge, and whatever you do - never say the word 'r.a.t.'! Even writing it now is quite an offense (notice the periods). I learned this lesson the *********** Saturday night, when I blurted it out, thinking nothing of it, and everyone in the ...

The Isle of Man

Following in Cav's cycletracks...

... our bikes back to Douglas on the electric tram, I started to feel like it was a bit on anti-climax, and we still had a bit more riding in us. This false confidence was quickly dispelled when, on the last stretch up to the station, I attempted to surpass my earlier glorious fall with an even more embarrassing effort in ...
