... We did learn some interesting things about Venice today: Jury trials, whistle blower processes, production lines (for ship building), ties, high heels, trade unions and personal taxes all began in Venice. Venice has about 460 calle (small streets or alleys) and approximately 1/3 of them are dead ends. Venice is losing 1000 residents each year and it is sinking by about 2 centimetres a year. We returned to the ship for the last night ...

... it. It tasted good, and was sort of refreshing. Brittany ordered the lasagna with bologna and I got the spaghetti with an egg white sauce and bacon bits. Both were excellent choices and hit the spot. They gave us free bread and a free appetizer to go with it, a very nice establishment. €32 euro and we were out the door. It was still raining but brittany had seen this gelato place with sea salt Carmel flavor earlier in the day so we took off in search for it again. As ...

Finally, our fearless leaders brought us back to the convent. No cold brews. :-(. The sisters allowed as how we could not bring Happy Hour inside the convent - so we headed back out to look for a bar! Ten minutes later, we were sitting under this lovely cool grape arbor - enjoying fantastic cold beer! That was yum! ...

... now. Looks like we'll be landing in Venice in about an hour and a half. Hope our luggage figured out how to get there. BTW, even though the WIFI logo is on the plane when you enter, that doesn't mean that there is WIFI on the plane. I am pleased to report that this flight at least has personal TV monitors and a wonderful selection of movies. So far I've seen Winter's Tale, Tim's Vermeer and a Whoppi Goldberg documentary about Moms Mobbly. I've napped a bit ...

... I’d been sleeping during our sail in (6 am), so was really looking forward to leaving. Once our boat turned around out of the port, a tug boat pulled us through the main canal in Venice and all of the other boat traffic pulled over to let us pass. We were very surprised they would even let a ship of our size through. It was pretty neat - I'm sure our huge ship ...
