... to swing my case (4kg underweight! Mum-"what a waste!") onto the conveyor I managed to hit a button. The conveyor is almost 2.5m long and there is only one small red button, which stops the whole conveyor, starts flashing lights and sirens, and makes the staff look slightly perturbed. And I hit it. ... was abandoned, the shops in the centre had closed down and were boarded up. A whole new shopping complex had emerged, colourful shipping containers used as shop floors, even a bank had made use of this facility. An innovative idea! Everyone told us that the south island was “more beautiful”, and we agree. North was beauty, but the South gave us many MANY WOW moments. Firstly, the Interisland Ferry ride from Wellington to Picton was perfect. Water was calm and no one saw their lunch. That’s always a huge bonus.
