Yesterday we took a drive to Lake Placid, site of the 1980 Olympics (also 1932). It was really crowded with people so it must be the place to get away from it all. We just had lunch and then drove around a bit. The Adirondacks is a beautiful area that is heavily forested and has lots of lakes. The mountains are not as high as we are used to. Today we just relaxed a bit and explored the area around our campground.
Tomorrow we are off to Vermont.
New York Drivers. What more to say?
Mom and I ended up driving into the Adirondack Region before realizing that the little towns down the long high speed two lane roads dont have grocery stores. But a stop at the local Quick and Go gave us the nuts and drinks we needed so we continued deep into the heard of the Adirondacks.
... We are in pine trees along a small river. This park is very crowded but it is the weekend so that's to be expected. We are looking forward to driving around the Adirondacks for the two days we are here. More pictures to follow.
