Birthday weekend
Berlin was originally going to be first stop on round the world tour, but decided to go for birthday weekend instead. Had a great time in a very historic city. Obviously much investment over the past 20 years and now a very modern and exciting city.
"Glitter and be gay"
Friday was rainy so we had a bit of a slow start. We made ourselves breakfast (I love our little kitchen) then walked over to Checkpoint Charlie to see the outdoor exhibit. After, we went to the Schwules Museum (Gay Museum). We walked in to find their temporary exhibit ("Glitter and be gay") on the actor Erik Charell, but everything was in German …

Back, but not for long
... On Sunday, with most of the day available, after a very early departure from the UK, I spent a few hours getting reacquainted before joining the Bierfest. The 16th International Berlin Bierfestival to be exact and it's 2000 different specialities of beer stretching a supposed 2.2km along Karl-Marx-Alle.

While we were there we sampled a German delicacy; currywurst. It’s sausage with curry, hells yes!
The shop Luke our tour guide took us to had a scale of 1-7 of sausage hotness on offer with 1 being the most sissy. The number 7 (aka "Da Bomb Final Answer") had a strength of 1 million Scoville’s. To put that in perspective a whole Jalapeño chilli is only about 300,000 Scovilles, 1 million is just short of law enforcement ...
