So,
Went to the masaya markets, makes you really wonder why Canadian Health organizations are so anal retentive about sanitary practices. There are pieces of meat, sitting in blazing heat, with flies all over them, everywhere. You can also buy half dead chickens, vegetarians must just be ******. Started my spanish classes as well. Fun Fact: the word Papaya in Cuba, means vagina... could get very confusing if you happen to be ...

Grenada ......hidden jewel in the Caribbean perfec

... Volcano just off the coast of the island towards Carriacou. Tours through the rain forest are great to learn all about the nature of the island. Take in some of the waterfalls dotted around the island, staggeringly beautiful and peaceful. The thing that attracts me personally to Grenada is the feel of being shipwrecked on an island full of natural beauty where all you need to do to enjoy yourself is sit and watch peacefully as the Caribbean sun sets over the hills. A very, very hot day in Grenada (high 80's / high 20's). When it showers, it feels very warm and almost dries instantly to your skin (very refreshing). We did some brief shopping today (Spice Islands). Ready to head sail to Bonaire (near South America) for tonight and tomorrow. One more port to go before sailing back to the USA, where we stop in Aruba on Wednesday (big shopping day).

Grenada's highlights & scenic drive

... The driver had to stop the van, clean up Mi's shoes before proceeding down the road. Everyone was laughing.

Our next stop was Fort Frederick. The fort was first constructed by the French in 1779 and completed by the English in 1791. It offered a fantastic view of the town and the harbour below. In the distance, the Caribbean Princess could be seen.

After a wonderful tour which lasted 4 hours, we made ...

After the veggies were chopped, the head cook carefully layered the pieces in a huge pot, added some pig parts and chicken pieces, sprinkled it with ketchup and hot sauce and put it on an open fire pit in the yard. Then fresh coconut water was poured over the whole shebang and the pot was covered with a piece of corrugated sheet metal and left to cook for two hours while we were free to visit and buy ...

Grenada - The Spice Island

Arrived here at 8am. The weather is hot and sunny. Have looked around the town a bit - round the Spice Market mainly. Having a great time here. Grenada part deux

... one in the world for nutmeg. Right now they are number three. We were told that the island is 80% recovered from that devastating storm. There are many homes that are new, however many others that have had to be abandoned. The contrast between the two next-door to each other is striking. We had lunch in an old church - up some crumbly concrete steps that made me wonder what we were getting ourselves into. Our jerk pork and chicken meals were ...
