The next four days......

By now writing this is getting a bit boring. So i am going to sum up the next four days into one entry. We started our Friday by heading off to the train station. Mother in law was heading to her relative's house in Cochester. Eas and I then just walked about the train station where we spotted the infamous "kunji" tower before we headed back for some rest. We were not in a rush the next day either. A very slow morning and the ladies were preparing ...

... to a customs official ... but will it be enough to one day convince a Spanish senorita to marry me? We shall see!

Waiting for the bus to the city centre, I ended up chatting with a very nice local family. The father is actually Irish, but came to Spain many years ago and ended up marrying a Spanish woman. It's every guy's dream! Well ... it's a certain guy's dream ...

Anyway, it was lovely meeting this family ...

First few days in London

... from the concrete and stark lines of architecture today (even down to Prince Charles’ condemnation of some Brutalism architecture on the South Bank compared to the back end of a nuclear power station).

We headed to Trafalgar Square, looking for that classic Trafalgar Square pigeon shot, to find the square was almost de-populated of pigeons, the fountains turned off, and the place packed with people on deckchairs. After the obligatory ...

of the way RBS runs its business.
While I've got your attention, I might as well use this opportunity to ask you all to write to Alastair Darling in support of this Judicial Review as what's most important right now is for the Treasury to know that there ...

... Victoria and Albert Museum. Our guide book had said it was open late on Wednesdays but when we got there we found out they had changed the late night to Friday so we had less then and hour before they closed. I knew I should have called but oh well We raced to the Fashion Exhibition because I really wanted Jen to see it. We took copious photos and marveled at some of the clothes from the 1700 and 1800's. After that we saw the great bed of Ware, some exhibits ...

I am seeing all kinds of Mueseums.

... the way they explained what arachids are really like and how they can actually be great pets. The Natural Sciences Mueseum took about 3 hours to go through. It has this cool escelator that goes up like three stories itself and its also an attraction. When on it it takes you through the earths solar system and so even on the escalator you get to see a fun display. As usual this museum is free and its well worth it and quite kid friendly as well. I spent a grand total of 1 Pound 60 ...

Planning and Departure.

... do not take credit cards. You will need Pula for Botswana and Namibian Dollars or South African Rand for Namibia (they are interchangeable). In Zambia it was recommended that we take American dollars as their local currency the Kwacha was quite unstable. Currently you need about 6,500 Kwacha for one English Pound, having said that, currently the Kwacha is getting stronger while the dollar is weakening.

For the love of God, where are my thermals?

Plane arrived half an hour early, at 5:30. As I stepped off I had to apologise to the steward because I swore really loud - yeah, it was that cold. Given that I've been chasing summer for practically a year, it was a shock to the system. Got the tube to Barons Court to meet my friend Hanna. It amused her that I was dressed for summer. Found the tube really strange, with no one talking to each other, everyone staring at the ...

Belgrade, just arrived.

... for those of you who bothered to read this entry's time, I know it's not that late (around 9pm) but it's been quite a day, very exciting - as all first days in a completely new place should be - but also tiring. Not much sleep last night , lots of walking today, and my new friend/collegue Maciej to get to know without blowing our working relationship from the beginning with short temper on my behalf. Self-control requires ...

Back in Blighty!

... tears! While we'd been delayed on the plane we'd compiled a couple of lists (sad I know) of things we won't miss about travelling and foods we had missed while we were away: Food we've missed: - Roast dinner (no other country has roast potatoes?) - Bacon sandwiches (nowhere does bacon like the UK) - Curry (as for the bacon ...
